The search committee is chaired by Gaines Lanier, a three-year football letterman and member of the university's board of trustees and the board of Tigers Unlimited. Former Auburn women's golf coach Kim Evans, former Auburn men's golfer and PGA golfer Jason Dufner, former Auburn gymnast Adrienne "AJ" Lee, professor of finance Beverly Marshall and former Auburn linebacker and member of the board of trustees Quentin Riggins are the other members of the search committee

Would Jeff Long be considered? He was thought to be a pretty decent AD at Arky prior to the Bert fiasco, and to be honest that seemed like a solid hire up until 2016.

Let me check, but I'm pretty sure this is the father of one of my wife's good friends.

Jeff Long would be a fantastic choice, so you can be sure we won't hire him.

Candidate Pool

Michelle McKenna-Doyle, NFL CIO
Tom Bowen, Memphis AD
Whit Babcock, VT AD
Jeff Long, Former Arkansas AD
Tommy Tuberville, Former AU HC
David Benedict, UConn AD

If I had to rank them...

1. Babcock
2. Bowen
3. Long
4. Tuberville
5. McKenna-Doyle
6. Benedict

Looks like a good one, I wouldn't want Long for some reason.

Neither have experience as an athletic director. Tuberville has familiarity with Auburn and the boosters. McKenna-Doyle is the Chief Information Officer for the NFL. Most of what I see from her is BS public relations fluff and social media strategies. Neither should get the job, but I believe Tubs would be a better fit.

Mckenna Doyle seems a little SJW like with all her post about advancing women. Not saying that is a bad thing, but I dont like the thought of having a very idealistic person in charge of the AD. We need a realist.

Pros for her are that she's got a ton of PR experience (especially in newer formats), which we could use, and she's been close to the top of a huge machine of a league. I don't know that CIO transfers over that well either, but my guess is she's better equipped to lead Auburn forward in the direction that big time CFB is going.

Tuberville, meanwhile, has a mastery of Auburn and CFB where it is and has been previously. I like Tubs and will support him if we went that direction, I just can't really see it happening.

Solid ranking. I just can’t wrap my mind around why people want someone with no AD experience leading our department. The AD is not a position to learn on the job.
