Just realized Petrino is 17-15 in the SEC. Does this not bother anyone else?

If hired, do we think AU would go through those same struggles or do we think he can come in and right the ship faster?

Is there any coach out there that can do that?

I think next year we should only hope to break even. The following year should produce 9 wins if for no other reason than our veteran oline

I think we are in a better place than those fist two arky teams. Whether the players will adjust and are capable of playing for a hard nosed coach or still expecting to be coddled through it will determine our success. 6 to 8 wins is where I'd put us. With Petrino that is.

So AUC is reporting we're interested in Mike Gundy.

Gundy kind of intrigues me — with an emphasis on "kind of" — but that guy's defenses make Petrino's look like the '85 Bears.

If we're going to go with an offensive coach, there's only one freakin' option. His first name rhymes with Robby and and his last name rhymes with Latino (kind of).

But by all means, JJ, keep screwin' around.

Gundy is pretty far down my list. I don't think he would come anyways. He's an alumni of Ok st. IIRC.

I think that it's just becuase i have so little faith in the higher ups at auburn to make a good decision that i get pessimistic and start to think that perhaps JJ is stretching out the process in hopes that someone takes petrino so jj can be relieved of making that difficult choice.

and i know coaching searchest take a long time, and even though we knew a while back we'd be looking for a new one we still have to wait to contact...like i said i'm being pessimistic because if anyone could frick this up, it's auburn.

Pretty sure this sentiment is shared by 99% of our fan base.

Took from FamilyEagle, which was took from "another AU site":

Re: I played for Petrino in 2002...

Played offense. All you need to know about Petrino is at one spring practice the offense and defense got into what resembled an old school wwf royal rumble. While this is completely normal when guys are competing for starting spots, what is not normal is for coaches to get involved. Petrino and Joe Whitt, Sr had to be separated by players bc they were inches from one anothers face using language and threats that ive never heard. After that we knew Petrino was legit bc Whitt might be the only coach ive ever been physically afraid of. Aside from the passion, it is very obvious that Petrino knows his stuff when it comes to offense. We would run plays over and over in practice until it was absolutely perfect. Ive never felt more ready for a game than when he was our coach- complete and total preparation. On top of that he is a real hardazz that will make you a better player if you have talent. He will not accept anything less. This could be a real asset to our current roster bc i do think there is talent there.

As for Petrino personally, i was shocked and disappojnted to hear of his transgressions. Tuberville had a very family friendly environment around the complex and Petrinos family was right there with the rest of the staffs every day. He really seemed to be a good family man so that was disappointing to see. As i have said, the risk is worth the reward in this situation bc Petrino is an intelligent guy and knows this could very well be his last chance.

If jj goes to Petrino first then the base is split. If jj goes to Patterson, Peterson, Strong etc..... first and then hits some B-, C+ candidates and hires Petrino right after a Shawn Watson interview then the base rallies around the Petrino hire.

Of course jj is probably not this smart.

I thought that's what the committe was for so the icons could endorse him and bring the anti-petrino folks around. I'm losing confidence in that as each day passes. Mainly because i have no faith in jj.

The committee was formed just to take the axe for JJ when we end up with whatever screwball coach JJ thinks is great. If they recommend someone good that is interested and JJ turns them away I hope they call him and the higher ups out publicly.

I work with a previous Auburn football player here in Auburn. I had mixed feelings about Petrino until he told me this....."If Auburn needed a team Chaplain, don't hire Petrino. If Auburn wants a winning FOOTBALL COACH, Hire Petrino!" I'm all for Petrino. Bring him on and give him a shot at making us a great team again! WDE!!

I know I'm just being a impatient little bitch but I'm ready for us to hire a coach.

I need to have this decision out of my life.

I really don't think we will have to wait much longer. This weekend or 1st of next week is pretty likely IMO.
