Statistically he's super mediocre (worse than KD), and wants to play PG anyway. And he's definitely not big enough to play SF.

Supposedly UGA was never really in play. Going back to Vandy, Memphis, and going pro are the threats. It is thought that AU leads. The G League elite camp this weekend I believe so we should know maybe next week.

So Julian Phillips has entered the portal.. but apparently the SEC doesn't allow transfers in conference for those that entered the portal after May 1st..

So tomorrow is the deadline to enter the portal. I actually don't know what the deadline (if any) is placed on when the players have to commit. Seems like by June it's all over with most of the high profile players not waiting around much past early May.

All I know is we have 4 scholarships to give and that's assuming Jaylin is coming back. I think most agree Lior will take one of the four but that still leaves 3 available. I'm assuming Lawrence is a big push for the staff right now but have no clue who would/could fill the remaining 2 spots available.

Who's got the scoop?

And as I'm typing this, Julian Phillips has entered the portal...

That I did not know and I hate to hear it.

So Flanigan can't transfer to Ole Miss as some have predicted?

Tennessee Volunteers forward Julian Phillips has reportedly entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. Former 5 star..

Phillips was a massive target for Bruce Pearl last year but chose Tennessee over Auburn in May.

The 6-foot-8 Phillips was originally signed with LSU but was granted his release from the program after Will Wade was fired last March. Just like Auburn did with 5-star big man Yohan Traore after he left LSU, Pearl and his staff hosted Phillips on a visit in April.

Go get him.....

A former Auburn basketball target who wound up at Tennessee due to a reported NIL offer too good to turn down, Julian Phillips, could wind up on the Plains after all — with the Volunteers losing a wing to the transfer portal and Busting Brackets’ Tristan Freeman dropping hints that the coincidentally Tigers need a wing.

Hokanson has been the one saying SEC doesn't allow it. Not sure how accurate.

I think that is a rule in football, but not sure it applies to basketball.

ETA: found this

quote:

In order for an athlete to be eligible immediately at their school of choice, they must declare their intent to transfer by Feb. 1 for fall sports, May 1 for winter sports and July 1 for spring sports. The athlete does not need to choose his or her destination but must at least be in the transfer portal by those dates.

The other avenues is a successful hardship waiver.

I don't actually know

What I posted above was when the SEC changed the rule in 2021. I see articles discussing potential changes last summer, but nothing noting any changes actually were passed. I don’t know anymore than what I’ve found with a Google search.

I'm gonna let it play out. See where we are at the end of June an assess from there. Nothing I can do from here and I trust Bruce.

Just said on cover that he would need a waiver.

JLee says he heard the May 1 rule might not hold and might be overturned as a rule by summer

Who knows

It seems very odd the media doesn’t even feel confident about this May 1 rule. I mean it’s either a rule or it’s not…right?!?

It would be weird for it to be legal to transfer to another SEC school for 50 out of the 60 days of the transfer window

I’m pretty sure it’s a rule but may not be a rule for much longer
