A two guard combo of two nasty guards is what typically excels in March. Like Jared and Bryce. Or the UConn combo when they had Napier and I’m blanking on the other. I think Aden can be one of those. Who would be the other? Hope Broome can continue to get better. He still hasn’t played as good as he should, to me.

Probably for equal scoring and defense the best lineups are how they are set. Obviously closing out half’s and end of games you need Aden Jones CBM JayWill and Broome on the court.

I wish we would do more pick and roll with Aden and Cardwell. It would open the kick out pass to the slashers or 3 point shot in that grouping.

We go stretches where we don’t defend well on ball. Think that’s all we are missing this season so will probably always have fouls but can’t let it get to where we collect 31 fouls like last game

CBM’s weakness is definitely defense. He’s long but that’s about it. He’s slower twitch and not very quick. He tries hard as hell though and will have to just sag off some and use his length when playing small guys.

Defense is one area I trust Bruce to get the most out of his guys. He can’t turn them into a bunch of Okoro’s, but he gets them to play as hard and well as they’re capable of.

Also was impressed with how quickly our guys identified the defense changing to a zone tonight. JWill and Broome both looked like vets and went straight for the middle of it.

Looked to me like the shoulder is not 100 percent. Couple of times he (or someone else) is adjusting something under his jersey.

Can NiL realistically be enough to replace a first round pick?

I assume any player with a first round grade has to go to NBA.

Size is suboptimal. Might struggle switching onto a bigger player.

NBA draft is worldwide. How many PGs are in 2024 draft?

Agree Awe regarding Broome. Right now we just don’t look very Helter Skelter, which probably has to do with all the new faces.

If Aden is gonna have to show that he can score at a high level on offense, and not just being deadly from 3. If he does then he will go first round this year. If he isn’t getting first round projections then he could definitely make more by coming back another year.

I just can’t fathom how Aden could get a first round rating. He is too small and would get eaten alive in the NBA defensively. It’s literally S Cooper again, but he appears to have a better shot and little less adept at facilitating an offense.

I don’t see him getting a first round grade this year but I think the offensive ability could maybe garner a 2nd round/ 2 way route. If he stayed a second year and built his body up and worked on his lateral agility (you never know how realistic this is.. depends still on both genetics and work ethic) then it’s a possibility the year after.

Aden has literally played two games in an AU uniform. We have got to see how he does in SEC play against A&M, Arky, Bama, Kentucky and Tennessee.

Anyone else notice that our next opponent, Notre dame, lost by 10 points to Western Carolina today?

I don't know much about Western Carolina basketball, but I found that final score surprising

ND isn’t very good. It’s a win that will look at a glance to the casual fan, but they’re not good.

With NIL, the smaller guards should develop in College instead of NBA. You have to be physical enough to play in league.

I mostly agree but to some the allure of full time basketball as your job, with massive staffs including world class trainers and sports scientists who can specifically engineer programs designed for your body can be enough to push it over the top. And it seems like most of the elite guys on EYBL circuit and HS All American teams tend that direction the last couple of years

The ND result was actually disappointing to me especially after the Baylor game. We need an early signature win that media can talk about.

Now ND will not be that game....Still have to win it.
