I’ll say this season is a little worse than I expected tbh

My expectations were clearly just too high for such a young squad

This has been a roller coaster of a season for sure. I had no idea what to expect at the start of the season, and got my hopes up a little bit too much after out of conference and watching Powell play as well as he was. Then it was clear we were missing a point guard and not quite good enough against SEC competition. Then Sharife comes into the picture and my expectations went through the roof. Looked like we could at least compete with anybody in the league and beat anybody on the right day.

A couple close losses to lesser teams, felt like a young team playing down to competition, and a team that just didn’t quite know how to close out close games.

Today was the least fun I’ve had watching Auburn basketball in a few years. Cooper can’t knock down perimeter shots and forces things when he gets frustrated. Don’t feel like we are running enough sets to get our best scorers the shots they want, or at least turn it over before we can get it to them. And our defense is atrocious. Looks like we are regressing down the stretch, but it’s hard not to think that having nothing to play for at this point is at least a part of the problem.

I expected close to .500 in conference and to be playing competitive against the top 4 in conference by the last month of the season. We aren’t even close.

It’s apparent that Cooper would highly benefit from an additional year or two even at the college level to enhance his game and draft stock. He is extremely raw but with a developable skill set

I don't buy for a second the excuse they have nothing to play for.

These guys are some of the best HS players now playing in college. They all want to win and hate to lose, so, no, I think it's more of young guys still trying to put the whole package together of offense and defense against teams that are now getting better down the stretch.

As Pearl says, we lack power and strength inside and we play way too much inconsistent defense and it affects our offense.

It also could be that we still are missing the right piece to mold this into a better team.

I had us around 7th but even that in hindsight was a little too optimistic. The lack of an off-season has really impacted the game more than anyone anticipated. Look at teams like Duke, NC and Kentucky who like us have very young rosters. All those things that get coached out of freshman never happened so it all got pushed back to the season. Then look at the opposite end of the spectrum with teams that have experience that are outperforming their talent. It's a crazy year. I still think by the time post season rolls around those extremes will moderate but by that time our season will be over.

It’s pretty logical to put us in that group imo. Young teams that aren’t allowed to enjoy their home court advantage. It’s no wonder why coach K didn’t want a season.

Agreed. This year is so clearly different than any before it. I think it will make for a wild tourney. Looking forward to next season for AU

Haven't checked in on the women's team much this year...

Woof! 0-12 SEC, 5-15 overall, losers of 13 straight.

Looks like it is time to pull the trigger and fire Flo.

She is 69-73 overall, 25-51 SEC over the past 5 seasons and hasn't finished better than tied for 6th in the conference.

She should have never had her last contract renewed

Auburn’s women team had an amazing run in the 1980s and 1990s

Final fours, etc.

What was the name of the Coach?
