I’m with you on both points. It’s like they just expect him to take over and everything to run through him.

And on defense I don’t see laziness I just see guys that don’t know what to do until it’s too late. They are reacting and then thinking and it’s making them a step late on everything.

As I said, I’m still optimistic for next year and willing to wipe the slate clean but there’s no excuse for that squad to have the same struggles as this one.

Just goes to show that talent isn’t everything in CBB. That’s not really anything new considering what’s going on at UK, Duke, UNC, Kansas, etc.

Yep, which few young guys do but that can only be an excuse for so long without seeing progress.

I just worry this team has lost a little of its identity with Cooper. When Harper was on the floor he was a great PG but when he didn’t have the ball he became a great SG and we could run a good bit of stuff through other people. With Sharife, the entire offense has to go through him and teams are just packing the paint and begging us to shoot. Offensively we just need a few guys to consistently punish teams for leaving them open and the middle of the floor (and our offense) opens up in a major way.

Thomas steps a foot out of bounds on the inbound and it doesn’t get called

They’re shooting 60% from 3

They’re going after Cooper though. Seems like most of these threes are over him.

Have I mentioned that I don’t think Franklin will be back?

We need a primary or backup point for next season. Move flannigan to 3 with Williams and let Thor and Jabari handle the 4 with Cardwell at the 5. Powell and Alexander at the 2. With some Jamal thrown in for some designed plays

Right now I'm praying for us to land Scoota and he reclassifies.

Cooper’s inability to shoot kills this team.

If he comes back I hope he puts some serious hours working on his shot. A perimeter game would do wonders for him and the offense.

Bad long range and bad passing Shariffe is definitely a guaranteed loss. Our defense is atrocious on top of that.

Defense has been the main problem today. I just don’t see a lottery pick there when you combine his outside shooting and size.

When he first played I thought he was definitely lotto, but that was when he was getting a bucket or assist at will.

I did too but I thought he could shoot then. Those teams we were playing thought he could too.

Agreed, I'm kinda shocked ESPN still has him at 9. NBADraft has Flannigan and Powell farther up than him.

Yep, the bama game is a prime example of what he can be if teams respect his shot. I mean he had Herb Jones (maybe the best defender in CBB) on skates and as frustrated as I’ve ever seen him, to the point that they had to take him off Cooper because he was losing his composure (and keep in mind he’s a guy who looks like he’s had a lobotomy).

It all starts with defense.

When you give up as many points as we have in games this year, we're not built to outscore anyone with this young team.

Individually they seemed to take every head fake dribble.

It is too late in the season to not play better defensively. And you tend to play better offensively when you guard well and make stops.

Interesting weird stat. We had 9 blocks in this game. It seemed we couldn't come close to guarding them otherwise.

Kessler playing pretty good for UNC. Think rumors of Kessler transferring out are premature.

I’ll say this season is a little worse than I expected tbh

My expectations were clearly just too high for such a young squad
