Flo got extended a few years back when her record was middling but she had a highly ranked recruiting class coming in. That class didn’t work out and her record has been worse since. She won’t get another contract with AU.

And bc of that extension, they wasted 2 years of a very good basketball player in Unique Thompson. Such a waste...

I was on the bandwagon as a kid.

I graduated from Auburn.

My son attends elsewhere, but he’s a bigger Auburn fan than me.

We need a HUGE bandwagon! It means we are successful. I hope we have to pave all kinds of 100 foot wide sidewalks to make room for all of our new fans.

I hope CBH and CBP get us a frickton of sidewalkers and when that’s full we can welcome the curb walkers

I have no idea one way or the other but do we think Bruce not going full out for a pg, not a combo like Trey Alexander, is an indicator of where he thinks we stand on the rife going pro deal?

I hope Cooper will stay one more year.

Could become a full on Auburn Legend.

I think it shows that he thought during the recruiting process (like most) that Cooper was at least a two year guy likely due to physical limitations. Probably didn't expect him to enter the season cold and average 22 ppg and 9 apg.

That makes two PGs that Bruce (for lack of a better word) undervalued and will likely leave earlier than expected. I really like Trey, but kinda view him like Powell as more of a guy we want to create shots for instead of making him create on their own.

We would still be a good team next year with those two running the point, but a true PG gives that team the potential to be elite. I would imagine if Cooper leaves, we will hit the GT market and it should be an easy sell to get a solid PG in considering what all they would have around them. Thor next year is going to be an absolute problem for teams. Throw Jabari on the floor too who is IMO a more polished Thor and we are stretching teams out like crazy with big men who can knock them down from deep, drive well, or post up.

Yep, but even then supposedly we were having to sell him on playing more of a CG IIRC. Which honestly I think JD would have thrived in that role with his athleticism. He's gonna be a problem next year though.

Wasn't that Alan Greens first thing when he came in?

It was Allen Greene’s second thing. He extended Bruce, Flo, and Butch all in the same month of 2018. Then extended Bruce again in 2019

I thought this as well. Your thinking about Bruce thinking he was a 2 year player due to physical limitations makes sense too. I'm just grasping for straws I guess in hoping he stays another year haha

The one thing that is a head scratcher is Pearl's recruiting of guards that have good dribbling skills.

It seems looking at this year's roster, outside of Sharife and Powell none of the other Gs or G/F who can play out front seem to have good ball handling skills. Even JJ and Flanigan are average ball handlers IMO.

It just seems we don't have enough backups of players that can fill that void if Sharife should go next year.

Pearl seems to get caught a little short handed in his roster w guards that can handle pressure.

I just look arond the league and see teams with good guards that intermingle as PGs or combo guards, and even their backups seem to have good ball handling skills.

Am I just seeing things differently?

Our issue at this point is numbers available or spots available. We need a transfer PG regardless of what Cooper does. We bring in Trey and Jabari... we will already be full on scholly limits. They will put us at 13. I'm not even sure if with the NCAA mess if we can even have 13.

Alexander/Powell is fine to get some run at point... grad transfer for the starter maybe? Provided no further penalty of scholly reduction, a spot will come from either a Flanigan/Thor early draft declaration or from a Franklin or maybe Moore transfer

I see Thor as more of an Okeke break out year next year although he is improving at a rapid pace but Flanigan is getting some love from some recent mock drafts so maybe he jumps at the chance. I don't know that I see Moore transferring, seems like he is carving out a nice role for himself

The thing with both Flanigan and Cooper.......their families aren't hurting financially. I am sure they both want to play in the NBA, but it isn't going anywhere. I think the fact we aren't playing in the Tourney this year helps us. Everybody can see this team is really good. With another year of seasoning, this team could make a very deep run next season. Every one of those kids would give a nut to be Tourney Champs.

2021 Battle 4 Atlantis Field is set:

Auburn
Arizona State
Baylor
UConn
Syracuse
Loyola-Chicago
VCU
Michigan State

What a freaking field. You could very easily go 0-3 in that tourney and have a NCAA Tourney quality squad.

That looks like something that might be worth it to make a vacation out of. What a fun field.
