boy, these northern writers and followers really hate BP. If you look at the writers posting the AU announcement on their twitter accounts and then read their followers posts, there is still so much hate for BP from his days up north and his whistleblowing incident. They want him banned or suspended for a year with the team...such hate after all these years. geez.

IMHO, I expect that the Kansas', the LSUs, and others WILL get hammered regardless if they fight it till the end.

Auburn has, and unfortunately at times, has always handled it differently, and this announcement is no different. It's got to be we have the ex NCAA guy, McGintley(?) and ofc a still young less aggressive AD in Greene dealing with this. Their MO has been to be self reporting and self punishing...

We're trying to follow with OSU's punishment, IMO. We're probably just hoping for no scholly reductions since we sat the guys involved.

Sources to ESPN: Auburn five-star freshman Sharife Cooper hasn't practiced in weeks and is exploring potential options overseas while he awaits the findings of an NCAA investigation into his eligibility.

Auburn’s decision to go ahead and ban themselves this year is looking better and better.

Wait why is there a question in Cooper’s eligibility?

Did I miss something?

Yep supposedly hasn’t been practicing. His dad being an agent definitely doesn’t make his situation easy.

Coop’s dad is now a sports agent and the NCAA doesn’t like that. Coop now drives a Maserati as well. You’d think there have to be players before Cooper whose parents were agents, but I guess not.

It’s been known for a week or two that he hasn’t been practicing. Apparently it revolves around his dad being an agent, which is weird.

His dad's doing that well as a new agent? I don't know the situation well, but that looks suspicious.

Is it that hard for these parents/kids to use some common sense? I don't care if its 100% legal, but the optics of a 5* recruit driving around in a $75k+ car is not good.

It doesn’t look right but growing up into money shouldn’t be a crime either.

His parents we're well off long before he became an agent.. they own a few businesses, one being a successful restaurant if I'm not mistaken. His dad became an agent last year when Shariffe's older sister was going into the WNBA. I believe his sister is also engaged to Dwight Howard, but I'm not positive on that.

With that said, I have zero faith in the NCAA clearing him. I doubt we ever see Shariffe Cooper in an Auburn jersey.

I saw on a board that Sharife and his brother both got Maseratis.

His dad’s agency is partnered with Lil Wayne’s agency and Okoro had already signed with them when they got the car, but it’s still hard to make sense of it. Those cars would be a substantial chunk of commission that he hadn’t received yet. Anyway you look at it, it’s idiotic.

A lot of what Hooks says is BS but he claims the Cooper family has lawyered up. What is unclear to me is why Cooper isn’t eligible to practice. Or, why he hasn’t been practicing up to this point. .
