There’s no way the Bowman thing can hurt us other than maybe losing an assistant coach.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Coach Sonny Smith has been elected to the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame and was given a great congrats by Governor Bill Lee, a fellow AU alumni member. Always enjoy hearing SS during our games.

Penn Athletics was proactive in this review and fully cooperated with NCAA enforcement staff. While Penn Athletics and its men's basketball program accept the penalties handed down by the NCAA, it is unfortunate that this process did not fully differentiate wrongdoing for personal gain versus wrongdoing for competitive gain in penalizing the institution in addition to the involved individual. The University of Pennsylvania was harmed by the actions of its former head coach and the men's basketball program received no competitive advantage. We are hopeful that this case will lead to changes in how the NCAA processes similar situations moving forward.
Doesn't seem like the NCAA will be very open to our argument
Hopefully we just get probation like them.

Maybe, but Allen was Penn's head coach and took bribes to get a kid into school and apparently on the idea that he'd make the team.
I still think this situation is quite distinguishable.

SIAP but Sources to JLee saying 5* PF Greg Browm is an AU-Memphis battle. Texas fading. No mention of UK.

1- nCAA probably views Paying plyers is likely worse than allowing a kid to be on a roster/school acceptance
2- Penn stated NCAA had no issue with Penns responsive actions nor compliance. Penn supposedly did everything right outside the coach
3- Penn believes that NCAA did not adequately consider the move did not change competitive advantage (which we argue)
Points 2 and 3 are part of our arguments
Point 1 makes it scary
Penns case in particular is nuts that the NCAA got involved. Who plays on your team or is accepted feels like a school issue not sport issue. They've let UNC go with players having fake degrees viewing it as an internal issue

Corey Evans still thinks Memphis leads for Jalen Green.
But the early favorite for 5* 2021 Jabari Smith.

And some of our posters think he is average. Every coach in the SEC would love to have Samir.
In terms of athleticism he is average. He's an average shooter, and average on defense. Yet, he's right up there in terms of production with Kira Lewis, Mason Jason, Petty, Edwards of UGA etc.. Glad to have him and glad he has the tough mentality he does.

just thinking out loud but I believe it all hinges on whether or not mike miller leaves memphis to take a job as a hc or remains at memphis for one more season.

LOL Memphis had the #1 class and might not even make the tournament.

We did a 3 month investigation into Bowman. Hopefully we're good
We suspended him after the Allen testimony. That makes us look like we had no idea he was involved in something.

Splitting hairs here I think.
I don't think when posters on here were giving Samir negative comments, it had anything to do with his athletic ability. When he struggles and makes a play where he forces it, then some are quick to dog him.
My contention is to be as good as an all round player he is, then he is more than average. He's more than average in defense. Is he great no, but he is good. Is he a great shooter? No. But he is good, and when we need some points and others are struggling he comes through, as he did against UT and probably others.
ANd his mental toughness is ofc, like you said his best attribute.

He has a sneaky good ability to get to the basket and I wish he would do more of it.

I still think they should be much better than they are. There is a bit of tension among the coaching staff too according to Hooks from the 247 board. Others have said the program seems to be in a little turmoil too after watching the tv series about them.

tv series? What are you talking about? And when was it broadcast?
