BOTTOM LINE: Gus has one year to improve, can he do it? I do not believe so.

We seem to outperform expectations when ESPN and pollsters do not respect us. Let's see what happens when even the fans think that Gus doesn't have a chance.

I dont even believe that. And it depends on how bad this next season goes but if its similar to this season, he will continue to be the head coach at Auburn.

A program is not going to pay 30 million ( would that be the highest buyout ever?) to get rid of a coach at a program where he is basically performing average for that program. Its ludicrous to even believe that. If it were 4 million or something like that, maybe. But just because a bunch of internet jockeys are pissed at a 5 loss season, it wont happen. Thats a shite load of money.

I hated how this season turned out as much as the next but to think they would pay 40 million to buy him out was just stupid. I was even shocked, which doesnt happen often, that some of you here even believed that.

This season did not turn out how we wanted but lets look at it in retrospect

1 win agains a top 10 team
1 win against a ranked team (TAM)

Losses to UGA and Bama who were top 5 teams in the nation on the road

Loss to LSU and MSU who are both ranked in top 15 (LSU in top 10)

Then the loss to Vols which was unacceptable.

So with that being the season, would the administration look at the head coach who just had a 10 win season and two wins agains #1 teams and think, we need to fire him and give him 40 million to leave? No way that would ever happen at Auburn or any where else.

90% of the retards on this board believed while some of us have been saying all of the “insiders” are just trying to get subscribers. Enjoy those subscriptions of fake news, hope it was worth it.

This is why I get pissed when posters, claiming they are AU supporters spout the same shite the media says...Gus is HS, Gus trick plays...Gus reduced his salary, can only hire assistants for 1 yr, start a thread every 5 sec abt it....josh moon...Marcelo

Give me a break...bunch of toads...Auburn is miles behind UGa and Bama...wtf - you don't go miles behind after blowing both out the year before. UGa got blown out by LSU who AU beats without some bs ref'n,

Turn coats or Idiots.....

So what you're saying is you are good with a average football with one of the highest paid coaches in CFB. I have higher standards than "average" for Auburn football. Accepting average is a losers mentality and we will forever be a 8 win school if nobody pushes for better.

The loss to LSU was unacceptable. The loss to MSU was unacceptable. The loss to UT was 50x unacceptable.

You can spin things however you want. I would not call Gus impact on Auburn avg. in fact, compared to nearly every school except Bama w/Saban, it's been better than avg. the Hardware his offense and recruiting has brought to AU is better than any other SEC school in 8yrs (minus debacle season without Gus).

My point is...quit being so negative and look at the bright side, if Gus can't get it done, we will give someone else a try but we aren't going to base it on the hate from biased media and fake message board posters

After watching his press conference I really hope the guy can turn it around. I think with him calling plays it will add a little more pressure and make him more transparent in his ability to coach.

Did you hit your head?

If he repeats this season next year, he is 100% gone. Like, might not even last the whole season type gone. Why do people like you always talk about money as if you have any skin in the game? The rich fricks that fund this program as a way to exert influence don't give a crap. Do you not understand that a significant portion of them wanted him gone THIS YEAR? Where exactly do you think the rumors about him being fired, secret meetings with Stoops, etc. came from? From our own boosters who wanted to rev the engines, thats where. So with Gus already basically skating by on thin ice, you think that a repeat of a 7-5 season buys him ANOTHER year? Dude, no, just no LMFAO.

247 and Rivals make money off subscriptions. They did get some information from someone, but it was far from accurate. They then add their spin. They do this for the money NOT because they love Auburn.

The point that some of you are forgetting regarding the "insiders are just selling subscriptions" conspiracy theory is that these sites only survive based off of REPEAT business. Outright making up crap, which some of you are seriously suggesting, does not serve them in any way. Why? Because if that is the rep they build then no one is going to keep their subscription. Making up a bunch of crap only to have everyone who subscribed cancel their membership a month later literally does nothing for them.

I never said I was good with it and I never said that I accept it. This is why you can not have a logical conversation about anything. You are so emotional about things it clouds your judgement and what you read.

I merely stated what will more than likely happed. Like it or not, 7-8 wins per season is Auburns average in its history. We are not and have not been a 10 win per season team. Thats why I said what I did. His performance this year was average for Auburn.

Im not saying its what I want, its just a discussion weather Gus will be fired and given 40 million dollars as a going away present for doing average

Based on what? Something you read on a internet message board?

quote:

Why do people like you always talk about money as if you have any skin in the game?

I have never acted like its my money. Personally, I could care less but I do understand business and dont believe Auburn will pay Gus the highest payout in history because he has another average year. It just doesnt seem logical

quote:

Mostly beat writers and others trying to stir up the fanbase for their own gain

Let me guess, you were one of the ones who was sure he would be fired this year. Sure that he "agreed" to a lower buyout. Believed that Bob Stoops was going to come out of retirement from OU, where he went out on a big high, come to Auburn and take over a struggling program and battle with the dynasty that is an hour north.

Im the one who has hit his head though

The only thing 100% about anything that has happened in the last month is that message board people will grab on to anything that sounds good and massage it to fit what they want to happen in their heads.

Also....media, especially subscription sites, will absolutely report topics from other subscription sites and message boards as news.

The AU subscription sites should politely bow out of offering any insider information... They are obviously blind and the continuance of slinging sh$t against the wall to see what sticks isn’t a wise strategy in that market. Customers have long memories. Never once did I say I believed CGM renegotiated his contract. I do know that one particular BOT member lobbied extremely hard to have him fired. My link within the AD did say he was staying with restrictions to $ spent on assistants
