His contract wasn’t/hasn’t been altered at all.... if true, yet another mistake has been made. Both Leath and AG should have addressed this head on three weeks ago. AU PR in the AD is terrible at their job. Almost as bad as our so called insiders / beat writers

My point is the mistake was made last offseason when the initial contract was signed... to blast the admin now for something literally no one in Gus’s position would do is ludicrous.

They said twice that Gus would be back..........nobody wanted to believe it.
Your problem is you haven't yet learned not to believe a damn thing "our media" reports. Auburn keeps its stuff as close to the vest as anybody......as well they should.

Would you expect the president or AD to come out and shoot down every rumor that gets started on the internet? I will never understand why you guys buy into these internet "reports" that are started and dreamed up by the so called insiders. 99% of them are never true and just made up in their heads to get clicks.
Stop being a sheep bro. There was no way ever that Gus was going to rewrite his contract to keep his job or anything like that. It was silly from the beginning. If your job offered you 50K severance, would you tell them that you would just settle for 10K?

This. The last 3 weeks have been fricking embarrassing. It was all horse shite. Recruiting season BS. Josh Moon and the AU "insiders" blow. No telling how many new subscriptions they all got from our dumb fans.
The reality is AU signed Gus to an insane contract and we're stuck for while. Thank you AU administration.

This. Leath and Greene said Gus would be here in 2019 after the TAMU game. That never changed. People took the Josh Moon tweet of "Stoops to Auburn" and went emotionally nuts over it.

247 and Rivals make money off subscriptions. They did get some information from someone, but it was far from accurate. They then add their spin. They do this for the money NOT because they love Auburn.
What I think I know:
-Gus is on the hot seat, many want him gone
-Someone had a conversation with Bob Stoops' representatives, but this was not JetGate 2 (Media tried to paint it as such) Stoops was not coming.
-Hires must be revenue neutral (I believe this to be true), the AD and Prez did not want to throw away money in guaranteed contracts. (Gus may have volunteered to cover that if necessary)
- Freeze: Media said it was Auburn Administration (maybe true), but I also believe the SEC heavily influenced Auburn and UT away from this.
- Bentley: I think the media got this one right, he did not want to come and miss his son's senior year as a figure head OC
BOTTOM LINE: Gus has one year to improve, can he do it? I do not believe so.

I wanted to believe but I knew it was too good to be true! BM has ruined it for me.

We just had shitty luck in 2017. Came off of two unbelievable regular season wins and in the natty hunt through first week of December right when aTm gave the world to Jimbo Fisher.
It would have taken some pretty steely guts not to up Gus' contract, which of course in hindsight we all know would have been the right decision... to call his bluff.
