What am I missing about Miss St.? I don't put a lot into preseason polls because it's silly because of the revolving door of players in college football but a lot of preseason polls has State finishing ahead of us in the West. WTF? They have a new coach and we have been beating their arse the last couple of years and we have way more talent than them.

They return basically everybody on both offense & defense. That plus respect for Moorehead & AU's struggles on the road has them as the sexy darkhorse pick in the west

I think they will be good but it's dumb to put them ahead of us right now

Not many people respect Gus as a HC anymore. The choke job in the SECC, to LSU, and loss to UCF masked a 10 win season last year. He needs to get over the hump this year. No more excuses.

There is always one Miss school that gets overhyped every year. Sometimes its Ole Miss, sometimes it Miss St. Last year State was 9-4 so most people think they will improve on that...but they wont.

No way. lol. Gus will do everything, come hell or high water, to make sure he has a 1,000 rusher. That is his legacy, and he will not break it. Now the leading rusher may only get, 1,001 yards, but he will have one...

They have a QB and I trust Muschamp to have their defense playing well.

I still don't see Boom lighting up any scoreboards. They will struggle to score against teams with legit defenses (UGA).

State played Bama close at the end of the year and beat UL in their bowl game.. Voters forget they got drilled by Auburn (49-10), UGA (3-31)

I'm with you about Boom. As much as I'd love to see them beat UGA, offense is a curse that follows Muschamp around. Hell, he came here for one season, and we ain't really been right, since. Completely broke poor Jeremy Johnson

ATLANTA -- Auburn hopes to have wide receiver Will Hastings, who underwent knee surgery this spring, ready to play by midseason, coach Gus Malzahn said at SEC media days on Thursday.

"He's off to a very good start," Malzahn said. "His rehab is going excellent. We're hoping we get him back by the middle of the season."

Hastings, whom Malzahn called "one of our go-to guys," caught 26 passes for 525 yards and four touchdowns as a junior last season.

I was thinking the other day it would be such a Gus thang if we end September unscathed only to suffer our first loss of the season in Starkville

if I remember correctly the 2014 season went just like that we clobbered LSU at the beginning of October and were sitting at 5-0 heading into Starkville the next week and then......UGH

that's the thing with State they've seemingly become the new Arkansas you never know what team you'll get they could like potential SEC Champs one week. and then the next week they could look like your ordinary Friday night highschool football team

uh, that’s describes probably 98% of college football programs. Not many can lose their very good starting QB and not miss a beat.

E: UGA, UF, USC, UK, UM, UT, VU

Biggest surprise?
Jordan Ta’amu
Biggest disappointment?
Drew Lock
Whose your breakout star pick for AU?
Moultry
What gets complained about the most this season on this board?
Offensive line pass blocking

To be fair, Miss St was pretty good in 2014.
