You don't seem to know tax code. There should be no functional change in scholarship benefits that would make them taxable.

You know how much Tebow and Cam could of earned for their faces? What’s wrong with them getting money for signing jerseys.

Plus I get NCAA FB video game back and NCAA can’t frick it up

I was a scholarship athlete in college. Yes I’m sure things have changed since I was in school but they have changed for the better of the athletes. Even back when I was in school I got a partial baseball scholly and a Home Ec scholarship. Never taken home EC at high school or college. I lived in the Dean of Home Ec’s guest house. Had a homemade plate of food on the chair out front every afternoon at 5. Got $50 a week to wash their cars and never once put my hand in a bucket of soap. I guess you could have called the couple my sponsor of some
Sorts. He was a judge she has a building at the university named after her.

So trust me at a big school athletes aren’t hurting for money

Nothing, this has needed to happen for a while.

So if we all know this stuff is going on, what’s wrong it legitimizing it and getting it all out in the open?

Because it gives some programs a major leg up on others. Regardless of what team you pull for, you have to be able to see that

One of the biggest things right now that is hurting college football is that a few teams are dominating recruiting. This will only make that worse

Its not as much about the players getting a little as it is the programs using it to get the players.

But I think we all see that. It will also make the transfer portal bullshite even worse

Yeah, this is really going to change the game significantly and I believe it'll only make the rich get richer.

What would stop an Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson, or any other playoff team, do a little roster tune-up before the playoffs? Bama needs a kicker? Well, look at Wake Forrest, NC State, Rutgers, San Diego St (fill in the blank) kicker. He's 40-42 on FGs with a 57 yd long this year. He's got no real NIL deals to speak of. Call Jimmy down at Tuscaloosa Dodge or Columbus Ford and tell him we need this kid. Check is written, kid transfers and starts next week.

College football was pretty damn great for a while, it's not going to look anything like it did anymore.

I don’t know enough about it all to say how it’ll shake out, but I don’t see how the rich can get any richer. The same handful of teams get the top recruits and play for titles; not sure how this makes it any worse. Part of their allure is the ability to play for titles and get drafted. But I wonder if it at least helps level the playing field across the P5 - if I’m a decent 4-star RB with lots of P5 offers, am I willing to go wait in line for 2-3 years at Bama with little meaningful NIL money while I’m buried on the depth chart, or do I roll the dice and go to elsewhere for earlier playing time and guaranteed NIL money earlier?

Maybe I’m reading it all wrong and every player, even the 5th string RBs, will be on payroll regardless of anyone recognizing their name, image, or likeness. Who knows

Judging by this video companies are allowed to pay for tuition for walk ons.

I’m sure everyone is happy for the kid.

But I believe there are negative consequences if certain programs can attract walk on 4* players to go along with their monster classes and the walk on players still go to class for free. Bama once got a top 100 player to greyshirt after all.

They actually get quite a few top guys to pay their way the first year to circumvent the 25 rule

For the kid? Hell, they stated later in the video they are paying for all 35 walkon's tuition.

This NIL is getting crazy. I have no problem with walkons getting a perk, but how they will use these 35 players to promote their brand will be interesting.

Without any regulations against it, this sort of thing will turn CFB into NFL Jr. Sadly, I think there are an awful lot of people who are okay with that.
