Sounds like the staff may also be selling him on getting a shot at WR too. Personally think safety is a better fit for him.

Can’t argue there. Not a big JUCO guy myself.
Said this last year and spots took me down the tour of Auburn jucos
and now we’re here

There's very little I've seen from our younger receivers to say Solomon shouldn't at least get a look.

Agreed, at this point we need depth and competition to drive home some results.

Some guys have had some great seasons but Rocker stands alone a completely dominant DL for years
Preach! That DL was the greatest front four we’ve ever had. Rocker, brother David Rocker, Ron Stallworth, Benji Roland.

Is it legal for Freeze to tweet publicly to recruits? I thought coaches could not acknowledge who was being recruited.

we would win the toss. Dye would elect to kick just to put the D on the field to start the game.

Rocker is my fav D player of all time. Just a dominating player for 4 yrs. He just hurt his knees and didn’t have a long pro career! Our back ups from that era played 10 yrs in pros.

Different position, but Spikes had a long pro career.

Keith Niebuhr put in a prediction for Waller to AU so that sounds like a done deal. Keith was the recruiting guy that was at AU for a long time and moved to covering UF. He’s the best in the business and doesn’t put picks in unless he’s extremely confident in them.

quote:Agreed. Ideally JUCO is for hole filling and depth i.e. we have solid recruiting classes and selectively add a standout JUCO here or there.
I’m not a huge JUCO guy nowadays (shout out Spots) but a plus I see with the OL guys is that you skip ahead a little in their physical development. The body and athleticism might be more predictable when you’re looking at a 19 year old
I don’t think it’s a viable strategy to rely on it long term. But certainly a resource to tap into. I think Izavion Miller from last class out of JUCO has really come along since the Cal game. If we can keep getting developmental OTs from HS like Edwin or House in this class, Tyler Johnson in last class, then we will be alright.
But I think I’d still prefer top HS guys
That said - we've had some awesome luck with JUCOs over the years.
Your Oline comment is right - OLine is probably the toughest position from a pure physicality perspective to jump from HS to college. It takes time to grow into a 6'8" 300 lb body and pack muscle on it, so an 18 year old 300lb dude is almost always going to be softer than a 21-22 year old equivalent.

Cole Pinkston was all over this one from the start, BTW. He's got some damned good sources. He was also the one that predicted Demarcus Riddick to Auburn before anyone.

I hope WR recruits are watching today. We need some good hands desperately.

If you want to see a wild hit look up his HS highlights... the guy launched a RB about 10 yards and I decided I needed to follow how he panned out.
Dude got nothing for free.
Not a super highly touted recruit.
Worked his arse of and made it to the pros.
Our last "big hitting" safety that I can remember.
