AG, wtf is the master J-H plan?

The place is bottom of barrel in terms of amenities / aesthetics but remains tops in game-day atmosphere. That won’t last for rich fans or recruits…

Reward the fans, make it better…

I’ll donate…not much…but I’ll donate if I see a vision.

Dude we just spent $90,000,000 on a new football only facility and paid $30,000,000 to change coaching staffs coming off of a year where revenue streams were slashed by likely 80%.

What do you realistically expect from AU?

Trust me, the big $ donors and the recruits will feel cushy and be fine. I just want an exterior facelift and update in fairly reasonable amenities (i.e. seat backs, concessions, bathrooms).

I don't care how quickly it gets done, I just want a cohesive master plan for JHS

The ad hoc piecemeal stuff is ridiculous. We took a glorious hunk of concrete and rusting metal and spent a couple of years adding nice brick and wrought iron touches. Then someone decided to put a gigantic TV on it, and presumably some back porch builder we hired from Opelika decided to cover half the thing in Trex.

It looks ridiculous. The signage is cheap, everything is mismatched and it has zero modern fan amenities. I'm not looking for A&M's billion dollar redo, but we need a plan to work toward that hopefully involves...pretty much none of the shite they've done to this point.

ETA: Check out what Yount Design has done for Fenway, Citizens Bank, Wrigley Bleachers, etc. Overhaul some portions of concourses and concessions, but retain and use existing brick, etc. and do high quality painted signage, etc.

They're currently doing Dodger Stadium, and I like how they're not having to cover every crappy facade with brick or paneling or glass to upgrade it and give it a trendy but ageable/authentic look. Still tons of exposed cinder block, concrete, etc. It won't appeal to everyone, but it matches what we've already got and presumably is a more affordable alternative to the type of overhaul we were envisioning 10 years ago. Seems like going this route would be less of a commitment to the future than building going a route (even one that is fairly neutral at the time) that will ultimately be really stale (see, Lowder Business Bldg).

I hope all of you know that you can only have true stadium seating if you reduce the amount of seats. There is a reason pro stadiums seat less than college ones. All those amenities take up space. What we need is great facilities for recruiting and players, along with taking care of the high rollers, which I think we do. We can spruce up the exterior some more, but JH is not that bad.

Change to Hebrew National or Nathan’s hot dogs and add Conecuh sausage to the menu for the fans.

Only thing I've ever wanted was an enclosed north upper deck

We were fortunate not to expand capacity when everyone else did. That was a good call by the former crew.

But I agree with others. The football only facility was the first priority and now Greene’s fund raising prowess should be focused on making the game day experience at JH better. It needs help and this seems like the right time to do it

Yep. The only way I’d want to expand now is if it meant revamping seating to where the capacity was still about the same.

Auburn fans pay more for tickets than anyone else in the conference (all-in season ticket prices plus required donations). Looking at the results and the state of the stadium, does everyone feel that we are getting a most expensive product?

Do you have a link to that? I’d like to read it.

If you consider the investment that they’ve made in the football facility, yes.

We might have the highest cost per ticket but we also don’t sell the most volume in the league. We talk and compare ourselves to programs that likely generate $7,000,000 - $8,000,000 more in revenue solely due to higher stadium capacity.

Yes, seatback the whole stadium and enclose the northern EZ. Would look phenomenal and likely add to the noise, and capacity would probably remain around the same or go up to around 90k. It would also likely improve foot traffic getting in and out of the stadium. Then just finish rounding out the external aesthetic. There were some decent improvements 6-8 years ago but then we stopped

I 100% want chair backs and I think we may see that in limited sections. But there is a problem, they take up more room than bleachers. That means some folks seats will have to move. Auburn basically said, if you have seats you will always have them if you pay every year. So it is a tradeoff.

Might have to get creative, including asking for volunteers to move and incentivizing them to do so.

I think almost every standard season ticket holder would take worse seating location if it meant chairback seats
