It was not a disaster. He was barely losing big games with talent that was atrocious.
Try recruiting top level talent to Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas etc.

IF, and I say if, Riggins, has a very heavy hand via the board, this says the search/process is trending in the direction of all other past searches - I don't see how anyone could think differently.
Different would be Cohen doing his thing, then coming back with options.

There are a lot of head coaches with good staffs that can win big at AU. Are we gonna win the SEC and NC every year? Nope.
It’s a whole new world and we are just entering our first NIL cycle. Whiteside said if we sign 40-45 players this cycle through high school, Juco, and transfer he expect it to cost NIL $7-8 million. He also said that number from aTm for last years class for the year was probably between 5-6 million. The 31 million number could be from loaded backend on the contracts. Like he brought up the rumored $8m dollar signee not at aTm said it’s probably equal that if he competes for 4 years and probably backloaded

One of the things that stuck out to me in the AU/OM game was that OM was still a good bit behind AU in the talent department. The gap between OM and Bama is an ocean.
Also people who get caught up in single game outcomes are usually very short sighted, reactionary children

It's so funny how quickly the narrative has turned on Ole Miss for this 2022 season.
For those that need a reminder: this was SUPPOSED to be a rebuilding year for them. All the offseason predictions had them at ~8 wins or less and mid-pack in the SEC West.
They lost their QB and others off their 10-win team from 2021. They lost their OC (Lebby to Oklahoma), DC (Durkin to A&M), and S&C coach (Wilson Love to Oregon). That's a SIGNIFICANT amount of turnover.
Despite that, they're on track to win ~10 games again...but the narrative has somehow shifted to Kiffin needing to beat Bama to prove that he's actually a good coach? We're nitpicking their schedule and who they've beaten lol?
This was never expected to be a season wherein they steamroll through the SEC. So whether or not Bama beats them this weekend means very little. In fact, it actually helps us if he loses to them this weekend as it would kickstart start negotiations immediately.

Well it's my opinion that serious consideration should be given to Coach Dave Aranda, presently the head coach at Baylor. He has proven SEC experience with LSU and is the 2021 Big 12 Coach Of The Year. Also Baylor just beat OU in Norman which very rarely happens. This would be a low risk and high reward choice as AU's coach.

I love Dave Aranda. Seems like a great coach and I had him number 1 on my first list I posted a month or so ago. However I don’t think he is the guy for AU currently. Just a gut feeling. I love defensive head coaches but Auburn needs some excitement. We are not flipping this around in 1-2 years. Year 3 yes but we have to keep fans engaged even on our down years at this time. You do that by putting up points.
That’s another Harsin failure his offense was so damn boring.

Quentin Riggins is loyal to the President, he's not a booster-lackey. He was actually involved with green-lighting the Greene/Gogue hiring of Harsin against the wishes of the prominent boosters, he's not a guy who is sitting up there to whisper into anyone's ear that we're going to hire Charles Kelly or anything like that.
Riggins was on Roberts ~2 person committee that found and hired Cohen. Again, even that move was "against" what the boosters were expecting (Hartwell or McGlynn)
Also, your last sentence is exactly how this search is being billed. Roberts has ultimate say, but he is letting Cohen run this search, and if Cohen concludes that Kiffin is the guy and we have a deal with him, then that's who is going to be hired. Cohen is utilizing McGlynn to help as he is now the right-hand #2. Quentin Riggins isn't going to push anything.

I know Coach Lac isn’t an option. I’m saying I wish he had enough experience to be an option because he’s awesome. He is a coach, address him as such. Not just “Lac”

This is a down bama team. If OM doesn’t do well (not necessarily win) it will certainly sour my taste for Coach Kiphen

Hoping Kiffin wins by 2 scores against them. The gumps are a demoralized bunch. Pile it on.

Any relation to John Riggins?

Interesting.
I imagine this takes Lanning out of the picture since Oregon will have a conference championship game the next weekend?

We need to pump the brakes on Lanning. He got seal clubbed by UGA, after being IN their building for a while, with an entire offseason to prep, and an alleged Heisman caliber QB. 9 or 10 games in the PAC 12 isn't a large sample size.
We had a "closer" game with fricktard Harsin as coach and a far less talented roster. Lanning also knows every player on the UGA roster, knows all the coaches tendancies and couldn't even keep it close. Does that not concern anyone?

Are you and I the same person? And Bo and Dilly were QB/OC at AU. Big red flags. But to his credit, Harsin looked terrible vs crappy teams. Ga St, MSU, Arkansas. Lanning is beating the teams he should and that is a good sign.
