That doesn't mean much if Freeze doesnt think so. Freeze doesnt trust Ashford to throw. Fortunately this means Freeze isnt falling victim to Ashford ball cries from the fans "just run the ball 85% of the time". He is running his offense and letting Caddy ball go.

Dont forget this is the same Ashford that we didnt recruit in HS because of attitude problems. If the team is watching for his reaction every time he gets disappointed then he isnt much of a leader. Our team cannot carry the personality of 12 year old's conniption fit.

He doesn’t trust Throne to throw either. Neither needs to be the starter next season.

Have you not watched how Throne throws a hissy fit almost every game this season?

Well, I invite you to pay attention to how he slings his arms around when he’s coming to the sidelines after making a bad play. Anyway, neither he nor Ashford need to be the guy next year. Or we’ll only be beating the SEC cellar dwellers again.

This Is the thing that shocks me. All these guys have some mystical dream position in their heads so they won't make the switch until it's too late. Robby might start at QB like TJ did at a lower level, but Not in the SEC or Major football. Trovon Reed was determined to play offense, when I believe he could've been drafted at DB had he switched earlier. They all scramble pre-draft to find a position, but end up sitting with a sad face on draft night as the rounds go by. Robby has TWO years left after this. Best make it count

Nobody is going to argue this.

Regardless, Thorne is more stoic than Ashford by a metric mile on his worst day.

I get it. You spend your whole life playing a certain position and literally dream about it many nights. Tough to step back and look at it objectively.

Making the NFL should be the dream. Becoming a millionaire would be my first and only priority

Easy to say from a third party perspective but not when you're a HS/college kid chasing the dream you've had since you were 6. Particularly if you didn't play a bunch of positions growing up. Instead you see them figuring that out as say a senior once the door fully closes on their position of choice and they realize that life exists after college. Somewhat similar to kids in a major that doesn't make decent money after college.

If kids were all gunning for the payday nobody would want to play running back, yet it's one of the most desirable positions in HS.

During the Vandy game, after being knocked flat on his back, I saw him sit up and slap his thighs and shout out after a sure, softly thrown ball right in the hands, was dropped missing a sure touchdown.

I was disappointed in his behaviour, I had preferred he waited til the receiver got back to the huddle, beat the living shat out of him, and said, now how does that feel, kinda like me getting the shat knocked out of me so I could throw you a beautiful....dropped....touchdown.

Is Freeze now saying this so Geriner doesnt transfer? Best throw him some NIL money or he is gone. Very disappointed he did not get more opportunity this season rather than far far too long experiment with Robby Ashford.

Kid will be a good starter for a P5 program before its done, then again thats what we do with good QBs at Auburn eh, train em and trade em.

This is my guess. There’s going to be attrition at that position and Hugh will be looking for an upgrade in the portal, but I’m sure he wants as many bodies as he can get in the QB room. Especially since it will likely be wide open after next year (assuming next year comes down to Thorne vs transfer QB).

After the last two games, granted they have been beat up teams, I feel better about Thorne next year in general. We need receivers to hang onto passes and get the jump balls, but a season in continuity will make this offense look different with Thorne there.

I don’t think Thorne is a headman candidate at all, but I think he could win us 9 games.

Not over DB's in a lob pass scenario .....

Full retard is in your playbook. He is a failure at passing and it shows. So bad the coaching staff won't let him throw ....Too bad you don't see that .....

Every pass he's thrown had a clear open path to a completion. He has no touch.

Tbh, would you blame him? He outplayed Throne against aTm, thUGA, LSU and Ole Miss. But we also heard these rumors before, and they were debunked.

I do not believe the rumors were debunked. (not proven is different from Debunked). What rumor are you specifically pointing to?

Robby is 3-7 as a starter for Auburn. (3-6 last year and technically 0-1 this year since he started vs. Ole Miss).

Last year Robby was 123 of 250 for 49.2% (RTG 107). 2023 he is 14 of 26 for 53.8% (Improved RTG 118.4). LINK .

Payton is 117 of 183 for 63.9% and a RTG of 133.7 for 2023. (QBR of 60.9 which is 67th in the country). Robby is at a QBR of 53.4.

I assume you are saying TAMU last year, because this year Robby stunk, QBR of 18.6, 1 of 4 passing for 4 yards. But last year he also stunk against TAMU he was 6 of 13 for 60 yards and a QBR of 25.7. He also threw 1 TD, but had 2 INT.

We all agree that QB play has been subpar, but it was much more than the just the QB.

Over on OT they are discussing Christmas movies and someone mentioned Miracle on 34th Street and Jville chimed in "You know that movie was about Ashford".
