Meta,

When I hear people make these claims I think about a documentary on TBoone Pickens. They asked the coach if he influenced the program. He said "The man has given 650 million to the University, if he calls and Im on a call......I just tell the wife, hon Im gonna have to call you back".

And so it should be. Without those boosters we would be far worse off, and they are the ones who will fix this.

Honestly I wouldn’t mind Mullen. I think he’s different enough to work. But he’s not my number 1 guy.

I certainly don't want any old retreads. Someone with a lot of talent, a vibrant personality, a silver tongue, fairly young and full of energy would be worth a shot.

My top guy isnt even on the list. I think Schumann is going to be a good coach.

I looked into Sumerall at Tulane and wasnt to impressed because he just kinda kept the momentum going like Harsin did at Boise and got credit.

Then refute anything I countered with.

Why wasn't NM State a G5 wrecking-ball with Kill/Pavia/Beck?

You seem to believe that these guys can just walk into a 2-win Vanderbilt team in the SEC and immediately put the rest of the leaguer on notice (this is your base argument), so then it should have been a breeze for them to plow through NM State's schedule of opponents. And yet they found ways to lose to multiple BAD teams, and got crushed by all of the teams comparable to their own.

You can't tell me that they alone are responsible for all of the success at Vanderbilt in the SEC, but apparently they were missing something at NM State?

And you are now back to the idiotic argument that apparently the HC of a football team is just a guy who stands on the sideline with a headset on and does nothing to impact their team's performance. We know this can't be true because of who we just fired (Hugh Freeze). The HC obviously has massive impact, and regardless of what you want to think: Kill is not Vanderbilt's HC. The man is a Consultant.

he was listed as a candidate on one of the Auburn sites I was reading. The first time I have seen him mentioned. He has a lot of ties to bama, so may not be interested in us.

If we are randomly taking chances on people, just keep DJ

The market is not the issue. It is the rep Auburn has for meddling boosters. Coaches worth a damn don’t want to deal with a fat frick yella fella when it comes to staffing decisions, or personnel decisions. You can love Auburn and spend as much money as you like, but you’re loving Auburn to the point it has destroyed the program.

Sooooo you think the Flarda situation is better with the "Disney Gator" crew that keeps interfering at a very detail level with the program and has ever since Spurrier left (in fact, they stopped him from coming back), or maybe the LSU situation with NO President or AD, AND Governor Farmer Fran calling the shots on who gets hired with very public speeches on the topic, bemoaning how much taxpayers are on the hook for coach buyouts? Or maybe PSU, who just fired a guy who made the CFP last year?

This chaotic mess is a perfect situation for AU to step in from left field and snatch Kiffen right out from under everyone else's noses. We probably won't, but our situation is not one bit worse than any of the rest.

Random chance? Durkin has already been a HC and failed. Schumann knows the SEC, how to recruit, and has learned from some of the best. Also, it seems he is a good gameday coach who can make adjustments at halftime.

That is a whole lot of words just to be reminded that the last HC that had tremendous success at Vandy couldn't cut it at a place with more expectations.

Anyone that is not a head coach at the top 8 SEC schools is interested in the top 8 positions in the SEC.

He wouldn’t be. Dude had one bad season at UF and everyone thinks he’s garbage. Yeah he’s a weirdo but he could do some damage with the right staff. Not my first choice but we could definitely worse.

That isn't always true. We have been turned down by coaches in the SEC that aren't at "Top 8 schools". People in the know of how internal stuff goes on here are sometimes not interested. I can't say that I blame them.

It had more to do with his lack of recruiting at UF. Mullen will never be taken for a great recruiter. PLUS, he was behind all of the Cam stuff being made public. Mullen can choke on a bag of dicks.

Why does anyone read al.com? They are a Bama propaganda outfit, always have been. They are no different than the Birmingham newspapers back in the 80's.
