Such a good judge of character...

... that he didn't have to recruit in person.

Harsin is one of those old school thinking guys that wants the kids to come running to him because they just love him and want to play for him., Or the school. Unfortunately, he just has not earned that kind of respect. And we live in a new world with college football.

I honestly think he could be a good "coach". I just dont think there is a play for him as a head coach. He seems to want something in a way that it is not going to happen,

I never liked him as a fit for Auburn. But there is a place for him somewhere

i think i posted this earlier, but i think he would have been a pretty good HC back in the 80s/90s, when you could get overlooked guys with potential and 'coach 'em up', like Dye and Tubs did

dude simply wasn't prepared for the NIL/transfer portal seachange that happened right as he was hired, then when he started rubbing players and assistants the wrong way, doubled down on being a HAM, which led to the investigation

dude would probably kill it at the DII level, but I think he's probably done as an HC at anything above that, including FCS

He talked the talk but was a lazy, egotistical a-hole who set us back years.

Make no mistake, Auburn set themselves back. They did that by hiring a guy who had a reputation of not getting along with others and who didnt like to recruit. It was pretty much the word on him coming in.

It is just one of many bad decisions Auburn has made over the years. He was just the tool to make it happen,

This bout of stupidity starts with the exceptionally poor decision to hire Leath. ISU was going to fire him for wrecking their airplane along with some other stuff and we saved his bacon by hiring him.

Leath begat Greene, Greene begat Hasbeen.

Fortunately, all that mess has been cleaned up and President Roberts, AD Cohen, and HC Freeze are knocking it out of the park now.

I agree that Roberts and Freeze are making some good moves, the jury is still out for me on AD Cohen

Am I missing something?

The link you gave is to an interview of Chris Peterson

Never mind. Clicked it again and saw he retweeted this and added his comment. What a dumbass. He showed little character as HC of Auburn and not doing his job.

Someone on the UF On3 site asked Keith Niebuhr if Billy Napier reminded him of Harsin

KN:

quote:

No, because this head coach actually works hard and gives a crap. And he does have some talent coming into Year 3.

Harsin was the worst head coach I've ever written about. The coaches that weren't his boys didn't like him. He didn't have a QB on the roster. Ran off Bo Nix. Couldn't recruit -- and didn't appear to try very hard. Wasn't a people person. Etc.

So many red flags with that guy. It may not sound like much, but I think Billy Napier cares.

I'll say this about Cohen, he seems to really want to improve the facilities which has been a need for a while
