Caldwell is saying that while we are still looking the rest of the additions are likely going to be depth pieces. Overall I think we did pretty well. I would have liked an experienced IOL with some upside and an edge with proven production but the bodies are there to field a competitive team

Go crazy, while I understand your argument, there is also a point to be made that the Athletic Dept has put out one of the worst stretches in our history. My son is graduating in May and has witnessed 4 HC’s (2 interim) and 1 or 2 sec home wins in those 4 years.

100% agree and wasn’t lobbying for people to start contributing more to it. The amount of money we’ve had to spend on coaches and because of that, probably overpay on NIL is pretty crazy. Just meant that we can’t also complain about getting outbid for people with more money and pretend like we have just unlimited funds. Just not reality. We may make a bad decision on certain guys that some may think is worth ponying up more, but ultimately we can’t just give a kid everything they ask for, we don’t have that kind of money. Winning will go a long way to allow us some more leverage when we do negotiate a smaller deal than others.

People are quick to blame the players, but fail to acknowledge how coaches and Admins exploded the system for a century. You cant regulate players unless you regulate coaches and school admins.

Todd looks like a solid depth piece. Good frame on him. Made some nice plays against Mercer and their good QB. If nothing else may be a good special teams guy.

GoCrazy, but we can and should complain, screaming from the top of the mountain. We did invest like they asked but got no ROI. That is my point. If they want us to start investing again, they have to front the $$$, get their shxt together and provide some results.

Honestly, we (alum and fans) have to be the biggest suckers as we keep showing up for the same results.

They have all been depth/roster filler for like the past 5 days, but I'm glad Caldwell let us know lol.

Fan based NIL is dead imo. Not just at Auburn, but not many fanbases are still donating. Its just not worth it. Truth is that this board could put every dollar we have together and still probably not be able to afford 1 good player. Its the same as its always been.. the boosters with the big dollars have to buy the players and what a lot of people are finding out real quick is that a few schools have way bigger boosters than the others and most of them are not in the SEC.

I'm surprised that there hasn't been an NIL fee added to tickets, merchandise, concessions at games, etc. Then fans can decide whether to contribute or not by whether or not they buy/attend.

Hell have damn collection bins inside games for people to drop anything from checks to change.

Then when the product is shite, people won't buy, incentivize the powers that be too. They're trying to make the players and coaches accept incentives

Companies will start paying players on their own for advertising and even if they don't pull for their school.

But it's clear the NIL has to be capped for college athletics will have to be scrapped and rebuilt from the ground up. It was built on stopping players from being paid. Now it will have to be all about capping it for the school in some way.

All I know is if we turned out the roster we're going to have going into next season 10 years ago, we'd be preparing for doomsday. Instead, we're back on the Brian Harsin "culture" train.

It just sucks. The whole game. It feels like teams are going to just be locked into one place with very limited ceilings and I don't like the looks of our's.

I thought I read where Tennessee did this a few years ago.

I don't know what to think about this roster. If I had more faith in the new offensive line I could convince myself we will be good. The running game could be elite with a well coached line, and that will open up the passing game. I expect defense to be competent if not great under DJ.

I'm sure this will never happen, but they should go back to forcing kids to sit a year when transferring unless they move up from G5. That might slow the chaos down and put some agents out of business.

Nobody is as talented as the teams we had to face back when Harsin was the Coach. The talent gap simply CANNOT be as wide as it once was. Now it's about strategy, coaching, development, and how well you play on a Sat. Alabama showed up and played poorly at times, but still won by 2 TDs on certain Saturdays. Those days have ended. As good as Texas and Maybe Oregon will be next year.... both those rosters would get rolled 10 years ago.
