The way I read that, players have to take a pay cut

Would depend on the player. Some would get raises.

Will LSU have similar roster turnover?

Or is our coach just special?

I think they are less than us currently, but they also had a game. I think they are around 20 though. I think Florida numbers were fairly close to ours last I checked.

Yeah like Atkins I'm sure. And I'm sure Coleman was offered more as well.

From the Hoke Article:
quote:

People familiar with the process tell AuburnSports the new group wants predictable valuations tied more closely to on-field performance, even if that leads to some portal departures. This approach isn’t about cutting costs; Auburn has resources but wants alignment with culture.

quote:

Auburn wants to reset the board, be fair and still offer strong NIL opportunities. This is not about Auburn being short on funds or lowballing players. The goal is a fair, predictable structure that aligns with culture and allows players to earn more as they improve.

With clearer expectations, you avoid situations where a backup player with limited production expects a raise simply because a year has passed. The hope is to reduce constant battles year over year.

quote:

In the end, it comes down to how unsustainable it is to keep giving incremental raises to players who are already being paid at a high level when they arrive. That’s the overall idea. The restructuring will cause some growing pains, but the new staff believe it’s necessary.

Yeah, but good luck getting a bunch of kids and agents to buy into that when they know the next school will just pay them.

I'm sure a lot players in portal will be taking pay cuts. It will be interesting in about a week to hear where everyone is going. Especially who is coming to Auburn. It needs to be a great portal class for Auburn.

Yup. Coaching change and no bowl make for a whole month of bad news with the new portal date.

Some of these kids got money thrown at them then weren't held accountable. Very undisciplined team, laziness in spots which is contagious. New sheriff in town. I will take a motivated 3 star who is thrilled to transfer in, work hard, get better in hopes of getting drafted over lazy 4 and 5 stars that managed 9 wins and want more scratch. frick that

There is a reason nfl players are going for more guaranteed money, cause they understand injuries are a part.

shite needs to be stripped down to the studs and rebuilt the right way.

All this 4-5 Star talent and the heart of an equipment manager. No one earned their spot on the roster next season except Atkins in my opinion. No one went full speed every down like he did. Not even Coleman.

So if he or any of the others want to leave, LET THEM. Thank them for their time, and their lil asses can frick off.

We move on. I think that's Golesh's mentality. Bring in USF's QB, WRs & OL and start there if you must. They're all winners. I'd Cignetti the frick outta this thing.

I feel the same. If we bring in the best lineman on both sides in the portal, then Id be fine with USF players at the rest of the positions. Im waiting until at least the 2nd and really the 9th to give time to have and idea of how the chips will fall

Don’t worry guys. Preston Howard said he was returning, so we’re good.

If it was just knee jerk reactions we would all need knee replacements after the last ten years. It’s okay to say I’ve seen this one before.

Cause he had nowhere else to go in D1

Hopefully, some of the portal entrants come back into play but I just don't know. It will absolutely hurt to see our top guys potentially perform like Bo Nix once they leave Auburn, but that's CFB now.

I'm guessing the intent is that we pay well above going rate for hitting performance incentives. If a player believes they are All SEC material, they would make more money playing at Auburn

I'd imagine it would play well and get more booster commitment too. The boosters are only writing big checks when we win

Finally from a team culture standpoint, the guys who are willing to bet on themselves usually are guys who work harder than others. It's a good way to weed out those who collect and coast
