The only player that I really would still take and am sad to see go is Deuce Knight. He could be the future and could get some good playing time this year in clean up when we can. He seems built well for Golesh's previous style of offense. Even if we had to pay him a year to be a backup, Texas did it for two years with Manning.

Then let’s pay more and stop being “competitive”. It’s like you may have to do something outside of your comfort zone to make a change. Also more than half the players on that list most definitely went to better programs.
Apparently, we were paying more, and it didn’t translate to many wins. Most of these guys weren’t living up to their pay grade.
This staff’s philosophy, right or wrong, is incentive based play. While I agree with it, most teams are giving out bags like they’re candy.
After watching Hugh collect stars that didn’t pan out or win games, I’m ready for a new approach. Get guys that fit what AG wants to do.

We have been out recruited for recruits by FSU recently. We have been out done in the portal by what I viewed my entire life as lesser programs. When do you view us as there already? There aren’t many good reasons on field to go to Auburn as beens pointed out so shouldn’t that mean we have to spend more to out do the suck tax?

Right and we blamed that talent eval on will Redmond and the coaching them up on freeze. But if that same talent goes elsewhere and does well doesn’t that mean they were worth that money?

FSU made a bunch of financial commitments and partnerships this year towards NIL that will translate them having better portal recruiting.

To be fair though, we heard that over and over when Harsin was hired. Then it flipped when we hired Hugh. Now it’s flipped again.
Coaching is the most important thing IMO. Then you have to also have a certain level of talent to get over the top. So a little mix of both.

Listened to a recruiting guru this morning and the first QB we got from USF got high praise. Said this guy is really good. Said it was a great move bringing him in. Said he could absolutely be the guy after BB.

Depends on what they got paid, what we would’ve had to pay, and what our budget is.
All of which I have zero to go off of for any of these guys

Short answer, no.
Longer answer, it depends.
Since there is a myriad of reasons a player might do better somewhere else, it isn't a given that they would do that well here if we matched whatever that money is, so in that instance, they wouldn't be worth that money for us.

coaches decided not to pay the suck tax and let guys walk.
We were most likely already paying it, with players asking for more.

If we over paid for the lot of them then I can see them jumping ship.
However if that’s the case and they indeed collected more than their fair share while here, then I’m surely not wishing them success elsewhere, it’s just the way the sport has grown.

I really miss the 2010-2019 recruiting world. Was the best of times and the worst of times but I loved recruiting HS and landing a big recruit and not looking over your shoulder like we do now. Didn’t know what we had.
