I’m not reading your novel. It rarely happens. You’ve posted nothing to the contrary. JSU has had 4 FBS wins vs P4 teams since 2010 and almost beat 3 more including an overtime loss vs Auburn. That was while in the FCS level. In the first season going from FCS to FBS, they won Conference USA. How could that happen taking such a big leap from FCS competition to the mighty G5?

Now let's get to brash tacks why dont you support getting competition for Deuce. Literally the only thing you were right about with Jackson Arnold is that Kai Salter needed to be brought in to provide competition.
I want to win. So if Deuce can’t deliver a 9+ win season next year and Brown can, bring him in. I’m just wondering how much separation there is between Daniels and Brown.

Jville this is a losing argument. Not because there is no merit but because nobody cares.
i’m still somewhat shocked he even tried to make it in the first place
P4>>>G5>>>>>>>>>>>>FCS
FCS teams went 4-122 vs FBS in 2025

Back to relevant portal discussion...
It would be great for a QB to sit and develop until they are ready but that simply is not happening in the current CFB era.
If a QB has a high enough ranking coming out of high school they are either getting immediate playing time wherever they commit or going somewhere that will give them playing time at the next stop.
In most situations a coach has to balance immediate wins versus long term development, but with how bad Auburn has been the last few years I'm not thinking Golesh has time to consider anything other than getting immediate wins. The best way to do that is to bringing an established QB that he has history with.
Wins > any single player sticking around. Hell you can even use the wins and NIL money to get another QB in the portal for the next year.

It goes against what we have all grown up with recruiting but I think we are all going to have to realize the senior/juniors transfers from G5 are better or more game ready than 95% of 4/5 stars freshmen in today’s game. How anyone wins going forward requires a new balance.

If nothing else the G5 player has been through a few years of strength and conditioning at the college level and is more ready for the size and speed of the game than kids fresh out of high school with 9 months or less on campus.

I was thinking similarly, skill position players and the QB might not fall into that category though. Guys on either side of line play absolutely need that time to get stronger.

The guy who made the prediction on which WR we want to retain has been right so far.

Could he be testing the waters?
He probably wants to see what’s out there.
He was injured early in the season so maybe he just wants to start all over- somewhere else or here.

Do t know Fields or his motive for jumping in the portal. But NIL is turning some of these guys in to hired hands. Again not saying that is his case. Could be looking for more money or pi$$ed that his coach isn’t going to be his coach anymore.

9 wins?!?!? Are you crazy? If you've been an Auburn fan for more than 15 years then you know now that with a inspired new coach we have just as much chance at winning them all as any team does.
If theres one thing I have learned it is that our seasons are NOT predictable. This is the Auburn football roller coaster, we have been down low for too long. Its gotta go back to the top very soon and if Golesh's offense is as good as last year and our defense stays the same then there's a very good chance its coming.
Sometimes its a good thing and sometimes its bad, but its indisputable given our history. Next season will either be unbelievably good considering expectations, or itll be the most heartbreaking season since the one before. We cant change it. Its just the Auburn way.

Interesting. Maybe Golesh had a conversation with him and they agreed that he should hit the portal…
Maybe he’s testing the waters for more NIL money…
Maybe he’s being poached by Lane…

There are going to be multiple WR's from USF in play. Expect pretty big turnover in the WR room.
Their young TE Jonathan Echols is one to watch as well. He was a 4-star out of HS. Big/long athlete at 6'6 235.
