I’m not sure we’ve ever really recruited at this level. Maybe during Chiz’s first two years, but this somehow still feels different.

It's a bit overwhelming for sure when we got used to recruiting lite and now we have to get used to seeing a constant stream of players every time you turn around. Not to mention Bro. Hugh recruiting during practice. That part of the coaching change is paying off.

Quotes from KJ Bolden:
quote:

"Yeah, Auburn has a chance — they definitely have a chance," Bolden told Auburn Undercover. "They definitely have a chance, they really impressed me this week."

quote:

"You know, Coach Zac he’s been staying on me," Bolden said. "Coach (Hugh) Freeze, the new head coach just seeing him. I had to come over and try it out. Kayin Lee, the freshman corner, he’s been talking to me a lot. Me and him been talking and he just said to give it a chance and now I’m here."

Asked if trip was worth it for him and his family:
quote:

"Oh yeah, this definitely paid off," Bolden said. "This definitely been one of my favorite visits. Not every coach, like picture with the board and make you write the defenses and keep it real with you like that. It was definitely one of my favorite visits."

quote:

"I feel like they pushed hard," Bolden said. "I’m probably going to come back on A-Day and maybe for an official. They definitely made a real hard push for me."

On Zac:
quote:

"He’s a cool guy," Bolden said. "He used to play at Auburn so he knows all about the family and culture and he just knows what he’s talking about football-wise. He’s a smart man."

On Freeze:
quote:

"My first impression of him is he’s a really real guy," Bolden said. "He don’t tell you the fake, he’s not going to tell you why you should go to Auburn but he’ll tell you what’s the good, the pros and cons with a school like Auburn. He’s definitely one of my favorite head coaches."

It's quite fun to follow recruiting now then it's been for 5+ years. I had doubts about Freeze's character and how he'd fare with the age of NIL/recruiting.

At this point, we can finally stop worrying if Auburn is going to land a five-star recruit, the question is now when.

Y'know what they say, it's BEAVER BALL BABY

After seeing/hearing about Freeze in action, I can see how he could have landed good great players at Ole Miss. Whatever else he may have used as resources was only gravy on top of his work ethic. Lol

Im impressed with the administrative staff and the logistics of handling these visits with the kids AND their families, a lot of moving parts to make a visit go smoothly for a lot of people.

Lot of these kids may be beasts on the field, and talk a lot about what they want in a school, they are still 18 year old kids and momma has a lot to say about that, a lot. And if she aint happy aint nobody happy.

Quotes from WR Chance Robinson:
quote:

"It was cool, It was nice," Robinson said. "I love Coach Davis. Everything talking on the phone was exactly like he was in person. I love the way he coaches, he’s up close, he’s a nice dude and it’s just great energy out there and a great practice."

quote:

"Coach Freeze is cool as well," Robinson said. "He’s just big on let’s win now. He wants to win, he wants to be a national championship program. Coach Freeze is a great guy, good energy and coaches well."

The staff's message:
quote:

"To come play for Auburn and let’s win something,"

quote:

"I talked to Walker (White) and he’s just telling us, ‘Let’s go, let’s start something new. Let’s start something big here and let’s be national champs.’"

quote:

"Camden, that’s my guy," Robinson said. "I texted him before I got here, texting me telling me and saying ‘Give us a shot’ basically. I love it here, I love Camden I’ve been knowing him since sophomore year so it’s great. It means a lot to me actually because I can get real look at what the school is really, truly about. Talking to Cam he said he loves it here. So when I’m talking to a guy that I’ve known for that long and known on a personal level, that’s great to have that."

Says Auburn can definitely get an OV and is near the top.

quote:

"Honestly it’s (Auburn) great for me right now," Robinson said. "I wouldn’t even know where to put them right now but they’re high up there. Great people, great staff, great receiving coach so that’s everything you look for in a school."

OT Daniel Calhoun: says Auburn is in the mix and Walker White is a big reason why.

quote:

"Yeah they’re up there,"

quote:

"Commits really, like Walker (White)," Calhoun said. "He was with me the whole day. He’s real cool, he really wants me here. I like that though, it shows he really wants me."

quote:

"Oh yeah, when I came through the door almost the whole coaching staff greeted me," Calhoun said. "I probably got here around 1, 1:30, they greeted me here. Talked to Coach Thornton, what he was about. We went and talked to Coach Freeze and then practice."

He says he'll try to visit again for a game or OV.

Calhoun spent around 30 mins with Thornton breaking down film and how he could fit in Auburn's system. He then watched Thornton coach the OL.

quote:

"It was really good," Calhoun said. "Really high energy."

Asked about what makes Auburn stand out:
quote:

"Coaching staff, the players, they’re really good," Calhoun said. "Nice facility, too."

TE Colton Heinrich:
quote:

“The facilities are incredible,” Heinrich said. “I wasn’t expecting all this. I knew it was nice, but it really blew me away today.”

On attending practice:
quote:

“It really is a big thing,” he said. “I really wanted to get a feel for how coach (Hugh) Freeze and coach Ben and all of the coaches treat the players and how they act on a normal day-to-day. It was a really good thing to see how coach Ben works in real time.”

On Coach Aigamaua:
quote:

“He’s a great dude. He’s very big in family, very faith-based. He’s not a coach that is going to go in and yell at you. He’s going to put his arm around you and tell you what you did wrong and coach you up for the next rep.”

quote:

“They want me,” he said. “They want to see me in Auburn colors. They want to get me back up here for an OV. As of now, I think so (it’s a possibility).”

On the positives/what stood out:
quote:

“I would say the people in the facility,” he said of what stands out. “I felt very welcome here. I really liked all of the coaches. Very welcoming, very friendly. The atmosphere of the kids in the team room, it felt like one big family and that’s something that stood out.”

4* TE Caleb Odom:

quote:

"Just the coaches, really," Odom said about his reason for visiting. "Coach Ben, the tight ends coach, we have a great relationship. He has a great relationship with my mom, too. And just because like the place, the history, Auburn. This has been my dream school growing up."

quote:

It was great, I got to do all the things I wanted to. Got to sit in team meetings and stuff, it was a great visit. It was definitely worth it."

quote:

"Coach Ben is always telling me about Evan Engram and when they had Dawson Knox also," Odom said. "That’ll be a big factor in seeing what they did with past tight ends if I’m able to come here or not."

On Coach Aigamaua:
quote:

"It definitely made me like open my eyes about him a little more," Odom said. "He’s definitely a guy of integrity and high character. He’s a great coach and seeing him out there coach his guys up, I would want to be coached by a guy like him."

He says Auburn will be one of his top schools and will be one of his OVs:
quote:

"Oh yeah, for sure. I might try and get back up for the (A-Day) game," Odom said. "If that doesn’t work out though I’d definitely be back up for camp or something just to get back up here because this place is amazing

Jeremiah Beaman:
quote:

"It was good," Beaman said. "Fun, exciting. This is my first time seeing the new facility so I’ve been enjoying it. I got to talk to all the new coaches, defensive coordinator, got to talk to the D-line coach so really just enjoyed it. And I got to see a bunch of my brothers that go here."

Garrett sees unique role for Beaman if he comes here:
quote:

"Just trying to see what fits me," Beaman said. "He said I’d probably be like an inbetweener. I’d have to go to the 5-tech, 4-tech. Probably go to 4i, 5i, just trying to see what fits me because he said he doesn’t know how much bigger I’m going to get. How much size, how much length just as of right now probably be at like a 4i or 5."

quote:

"Just his overall approach to coaching in general," Beaman said stuck out about Garrett's coaching style. "Because there’s a lot of coaches coaching and I just like his style. And I talked to Jayson (Jones) a lot about him so it’s not really — everything Jayson said I see in person."

quote:

"I’m trying to get back down here A-Day," Beaman said. "But if I don’t I’ll definitely get down here another time."
