We’ll only take a qb if he’s a clear upgrade over Thorne, imo. I do think there are 3-4 that have reached out to Freeze about transferring.

I am just waiting for these 5*s we are chasing to drop down to a high 4*. That will be the only sure indication for me that they are headed over

I also think the bama game will tell us what we need to know about thorne, is it the old or new thorne. Im not saying by any stretch that Thorne is a Joe Burrow, but Burrow's 1st year at LSU he threw 57% and 2800 yards next year 76% and 5600 yards. Sometimes it just takes a transfer to get comfortable in the system and in our case everyone surrounding him as well.
We will obviously give the portal a hard hard look, and Im still annoyed Geriner never got a shot, I hope he stays but I doubt it.

With the rumors about Kelly on the block at UCLA Dante Moore will be looking around one would think, sure thats one of many that will be out there.

LSU 2019 had one Heisman trophy winner, a 1400 yard RB (Helaire) and two 1500+ yard receivers in Chase and Jefferson who are among the top 5 receivers right now in the NFL. It will be super hard to replicate that. I have dogged Thorne pretty hard early on but he has shown some mental toughness and fight the past few games. Whether that’s just due to the inferior quality of the opposition will be clear at seasons end. If we lose our bowl game to someone like Minnesota, I will absolutely blow a gasket.

But if he does and sat behind Robbie (@2) I'd serious think of leaving. Just knowing we played musical chairs is practically enough.

If you're behind someone playing well that's a lot different than riding the pine while the guys ahead of you look terrible without getting a shot.

Even if Thorne lights up the IB, no one is going to fear riding the pine next year is what I’m saying

Once again Im not saying Thorne is Joe Burrow, Im saying a year in a system can make a world of difference in a QB performance, and I believe you proved my point.....
All these players were there in 2018, what changed?
And yes I still think we will go for an upgrade in the portal, but if Thorne looks reasonable, against the best defense in College in two weeks, we will all breathe a little easier. And if he doesnt....Ill call Dan Marino myself
