Regarding NIL, this is not the beginning nor the end of the beginning, but it may be the beginning of the end....

Seriously, its not about Coleman, its about 84 other guys. You have to have a budget on what to pay who, you pay a high school kid an arm and a leg, what happens when all your starters hit the portal in the fall cause you wont match it with them, or a comparable bump in pay?

To Jville point, Bruce Pearl said he would take maybe two out of high school and then just spend the money in the portal, those guys have to stay, who wants to be a farm team for HS kids.

I dont think the football team is to that point by any means but this is NIL. And it doesnt end in the fall, Im certain we have some of the admin staff now dedicated to tracking all the players we might want that could enter the portal in the future, and if we dont end up signing Coleman, he will certainly be one of them.

And we will have to pamper the good ones to ensure they dont enter the portal.

On the flipside we can kick the nonperformers to the curb with no regrets in this new system.

I agree we have to budget well. It’s a bit of a reality check when out of left field a five star WR 45 minutes from campus commits to a school that we beat on the field last year.

Things looked teed up to land Coleman, Riddick, and Thompson 24 hours ago. Bolden looked like he was in play too.

Realistically, are we going to get any of those guys? Everyone’s got a plan until they get hit in the mouth like we did yesterday.

Honestly if CC prefers to play for Jimbo and Petrino not exactly known to be good guys over his other options, that says alot to me about the person especially if he was selling himself to the highest bidder.

Hasnt it been true in the past that local kids just don't go to Auburn sometimes? I feel like that was a trend awhile back

Befroe we start talking badly about someone selling themselves to the highest bidder, I give you the wisdom of Lenny from Law and Order (rip). "Ive been married three times and I can tell you a prostitute is more honorable....at least they tell you the price up front to get screwed".

He should have said it was about the money up front, we could have given him the offer and not wasted time, just like we do with transfers, I think that may have been the rub.

Didnt we snatch a couple our way the last minute of signing class...quit dwelling on the losses, we got some cattle to round up. I hear we have so many visiting for big cat they are thinking of renaming it safari.

Don't get one without the other, imo.

The point was they were in shambles last season. Our future outlook with Freeze should be better than what A&M’s Jimbo era has been. Plus it’s a home-state guy nowhere near Texas.
