Gus doesnt use a TE...do we really need a TE coach?
Id rather just add another defensive coach

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Put the TEs with Craig at receiver and hire another defensive coach.

Or leave the staff as currently listed , and save the money from another coach to pay these guys competitively.

Gus does use TE's and HB's. More importantly, he had a freaking TE coach at Arkansas State. So yes, it does appear that he needs a TE coach.

From a statistical standpoint, the importance of this coach is moot. TEs didn't do anything for Arky State this past season; they didn't do much with Trotter and Lutz in '09; Lutz did okay in '10, and overall had a pretty mediocre (relative) career. Eric Smith did some really good things as hybrid FB/H-back, and I think a guy like Ricky Parks could really excell in this sort a role.

We're hearing a lot of chatter about Tim Horton agreeing to terms with Auburn as its final assistant coach ...
SportsTalk_Horton would coach TE's and the H-Back position in Malzahn's offense #Auburn

Auburn paid $4.2 mil/year on assistant coaches last year which topped the entire nation.
If we keep that number the same and add the 1mil/year savings we got on Gus to assistant salaries, we are gravy compared to last year and these guys will be the highest paid assistants in the country.
If you have a problem with the budget we will just have a bake sale and sell Gus Bus tshirts

I know Alabama's staff was #1 in 2010 and I doubt they went lower after winning on 1/9.
that could have factored in Saban's salary to the total... Alabama may have the highest overall staff budget (Saban + 9 assistants)... AU may have the highest assistant budget.

Well, I'm happy to say that this worked out much better than I expected. I may actually be excited for football come fall.

On a sidenote, this staff has 3 teams' Recruiting Coordinators from the 2012 season. Never heard of that being done. Suck it Arky, UGA, & FSU
Nice staff Gustav (no homo)
