Didn't he already hire a OL coach? D.H. Grimes or something like that, the Kansas OL coach. No relation to Jeff Grimes.

What's with the hiring of all these up and comers? I looked at a few bios and everyone seems to have been some ones assistant a year or 2 ago. Everyone including the HC seems to only have 1 or 2 years experience being the guy at their position.

ETA: This is a 100 million dollar a year business, but for what every reason AU runs it like a mom and pop operation..The lack of experience across the board is disturbing

I think alot of our offensive hires will be "up and comers" just because they will be Gus' people. He knows what he's looking for from the offensive coaching personnel. If Ellis gets to hire the defensive staff, we will probably see alot of age and experience there.

Well JFYI, we had experience across the board with the Chiz hires and look where that got us.

Glendale?

I jest. i get your point, but comparing things to chiz regime doesn't seem fair knowing what we know now about his competence level.

I hope it works out, but i'm on the fence, and for good reason i believe.

Yep, and all of those guys had up and coming assistants under them(our new hires), that they were training and influencing. We basically fired the teachers and hired the students.

I get your point. Lets look at it this way: Gus has only been coaching college for 6 or 7 years. H'es is still pretty new to the game. But he proved he can hire a veteran like Johnson, granted he was looking for work at the time, but it just worked out good for us. How would he know Johnson? I think he knows what hires are very important in getting a wealth of experience and he did that with defense. I think he wants all his proteges to be with him so he can have complete control of how the offense is run and these people know it better than anyone else. I just dont feel like being a little negatiger right now because it consumes too much time and energy to bitch. Got other things to worry about

I agree. Gus wants the O to run his way. I hope we see more experience on the D.
