He’s probably closer to $1m than we think but there’s no way for either of us to know. Most NFL coaching contracts are not made public. Regardless, I don’t see him coming to Auburn. Stranger things have happened, though

Watching the pressers, I really like the guy already

Cole Cubelic tweeted that Harsin will have full control of his staff, weird that the 5th option would be able to have that but not the first 4.... :sarcasm:
Or perhaps he wasn’t the 5th option.

247 article said only 3 were considered for the position.

Thamel even said despite the speculation, the coaching search was fairly normal.
quote:
Once Auburn fired coach Gus Malzahn last week, a spree of rumors and backchannels around the university began. Auburn officials point to Harsin’s hiring as the culmination of a thorough search run by athletic director Allen Greene, which included the use of Parker Executive Search.
“There’s been lots of speculation out there, but it’s been a professional search,” said a source familiar with the search. “The process was managed in a way that’s consistent with industry standards.”

I’m glad y’all post in the middle of the night. It gives me something to read while I battle insomnia. Glad to know I’m not the only one who can’t sleep.

Bros, gotta get up early and continue the grind at work. I’m going to put it on my work next year once the Covid bullshite settles down. I’ve accumulated so much leave since I didn’t take off any that if they say one cross word to me I’m taking off a week at a time. As for my sleep, roughly four hours is the norm. My body will hate me later.

I generally take 2 - 3 hour naps. Just never know when those times might be. Same here on work I’m rolling over over 100 hours of vacation time unused.

He doesnt seem to have a issue calling the press out. I like that. He is probably going to grow on me. He seems like a younger guy who is pretty intense.

Talent @Auburn > Boise State.
So let’s see how we look with someone who can actually develop the talent on the roster
He put alot of players in the NFL

I’m excited about Harsin.
He has been a winner at every stop in his career, and is THE most unAuburn hire Auburn could have made....which IMO makes him perfect.
We may have found the next Meyer, Saban, etc.

Looking at his offense, he uses some of the same elements as Gus. Run to set up the deep bomb. Jet sweep. Lots of pre-snap motion. The occasional trick play. Even that damn Statue of Liberty play that everyone around here hates. I did not see a whirlybird. They do a fair number of quick runs up the middle, but he places a tremendous amount of emphasis on the offensive line. If you ask me, that was Gus' undoing, more than anything else.
His offense is definitely built more around a pocket passer than a DT. Would have been interesting to see him coach Stidham. I think though that when presented with a QB like Nix who can pick up the 1st with his legs, he is smart enough to capitalize on it. Will be interesting to see how much Bo runs.
He wants to get players in space. Lots of throws to RB and TEs. His game planning places a lot of focus on converting 3rd downs on offense, and getting off the field on 3rd downs on defense, to shift the play count in the offense's favor. Whereas Gus' offense depended a great deal on big/explosive plays, Harsin seems rather to want to move down the field and consistently convert. You don't always have to break a 60 yard run to score.
It's been said that Harsin doesn't exactly have a "base offense" and instead tailors his offensive plan to the opponent each week. Watching some film from different games, I can kind of see that. He also seems to make good adjustments.
Allen Greene said that Hars laid out a "very detailed plan" for getting Auburn to championships. I'd like to have been a fly on that wall. Guarantee he mentioned OL recruiting and development.
Wonder if he'll call the offense?

I upvoted the use of the McKayla meme alone.
