I know he doesn't have the hardware, but wasn't Petersen considered one of the best in the biz before he retired? I know I've seen him almost universally praised as a cfb coach.
I'd think the pedigree of coming up with a guy like that is better for Auburn than not. Or am I just reaching?
Regardless, I'm excited just at the fact that he is something new and different.

I wouldn't think it hurts to have a front row seat to seeing a program built and sustained. I always wondered if one of the knocks on Gus's experience, however big or small, was never having actually seen how a successful program operates from the inside.
