If MC hasn't signed an extension at Oregon in 24 hours, I would be worried as a duck fan

I like Cristobal's recruiting. Number 11 last year and currently 6 this year.
He had only one recruit from Oregon so he can recruit Nationally.
He has a 4* from Mississippi and 4* from North Carolina so even so far away he is pulling talent from the South.

I am not so sure I agree with you.
Atl. was as bad a coached NFL team as you will ever see.

If we hire Quinn I quit. Period

And any succes he has, like an 8 win season, and he would look to the NFL again.

If the choices come down to Kevin Steele or Dan Quinn, I will drive every one of you boys to Auburn so that we can all spray paint our dissent on the big rock in the center of town

If we hire Dan Quinn I'm buying a short rope and finding a tall tree

I know everyone is throwing a complete shite fit over the search but let’s just put a bullet in the Dan Quinn stuff. He reached out to AU. They maybe took his card but he’s not a true candidate

Random Reddit poster with Eugene sauces:
“Update on Mario Cristobal from an Oregon alum
Hello, I come in peace. Thought I’d offer my thoughts here. First, I’ll note that I’m close with a couple people who provide me with consistently good information about the Oregon football program. During previous coaching searches and contract negotiations, I’ve always gotten information that turns out to be accurate well before it hits the message boards. So what do I know about this? Almost nothing.
1. Mario wants to be at Oregon. He has been trying to sign an extension all year.
2. The optics of paying a football coach $5+ million in the middle of a pandemic are especially bad in Eugene. There is pressure not to do this, though I can’t say w/ any certainty where this is coming from. Ultimately, I’m not sure what Rob Mullens (Oregon AD) can and can’t do.
3. Oregon believes that an Auburn offer is on the table.
4. Uncle Phil is rumored to be involved, but despite what people think, Phil doesn’t buy coaches; he buys facilities and hospitals and stuff with his name on it. Never has Oregon truly ponied up for a coach because Phil decided to cover the cost. It could happen, it just hasn’t happened before.
So where does this leave us? No idea. I was feeling confident an extension would get done, and then heard from someone who has been right before that Mario’s gone. As of last night, I thought he was headed to Auburn. Today I swung back the other way, but there are still a couple things giving me pause. For one, I don’t buy that Phil will get involved in a bidding war. That’s just not who he is. The best thing about coaching at Oregon is that you only need to keep one booster happy, and even if he isn’t, he won’t be loud about it. By all accounts, Phil likes Mario, but a) he wouldn’t say otherwise and b) even if he does, I don’t see him getting involved financially. I think that Mario has made his demands (which is far more than just salary-related, as he wants a larger assistant pool and a significantly larger operational and recruiting budget) and the ball is in Oregon’s court. If Oregon planned to meet those demands, I’m not sure why the delay UNLESS Mario plans to kick-off early signing day tomorrow by announcing the extension (which would be in character). If we get to the afternoon without an announcement of some kind, it’s not good news for Oregon.”

He went on to say:
“Legitimately elite recruiter. What he’s doing at Oregon is unprecedented when you consider the lack of regional talent.
There is not a single HC in P5 CFB who works harder or puts in more time. He loves the grind and is a bit insane in that regard. Sometimes I feel bad for his family.
He’s not an X’s and O’s Guy, and his in-game management is poor. We mis-use timeouts every game.
He can build a great staff. He has made consistently good hiring decisions aside from Arroyo, who was awful as an OC (which was predictable).
He knows how to build a championship program. He saw that firsthand at Miami and then Alabama. He understands that nothing is even close to as important as recruiting.
The big question for me is organization. Everyone assumes he’s this super organized guy, partly given his maniacal work ethic, but I’ve heard some things that lead me to believe otherwise. That’s probably my biggest concern.
I’ll add that I think he is stuck in 1990 regarding his approach to the game. He’s an OL through and through and can over-index on this in critical short yardage situations. He expects his OL to win the game and trusts them too much, imo. I do think he saw LSU and Bama and Clemson last year and realized you need an elite offense to win, hence going out and getting Joe Moorhead, who has been phenomenal. We’ll see how Mario evolves in his thinking here.“

If this was true, he would have signed it. He may still want to coach at Oregon, but acting like he is fighting to stay there is just disingenuous. He will go where the best offer is.

My thought was that MC doesn’t believe they currently have the resources in place to build a consistent championship program. Wants better facilities, more coaches, etc. Oregon will easily pony up a raise...it’s the additional resources they’re balking at
Anyway, random post I saw scrolling through naked chics on Reddit. Just thought it was an interesting take...carry on

I don't know much, but I'll say again any Auburn fan should be skeptical of info coming from Ron Sanders.

I don’t disagree. The poster is just being misleading. MC and Oregon have been in negotiations for an extension. Like pretty much any coach does usually in their 3rd year. He hasn’t been trying to sign an extension all year. They aren’t just not letting him sign it lol
Posted on 12/15/20 at 10:26 pm to GoCrazyAuburn
And it takes 20 mins to agree to 7 mm per year with a 5 mm assistant pool.

Either way, I don’t know, but I do think it’s good news he hasn’t signed an extension yet...that we know of.
