Lain Kiphuns

1. AU is primed. Brand new $96m facilities, NIL is established and ready.

2. Lesser coaches have taken AU to heights that OM only sees in dreams.

3. Proximity to troll Saban and the fact that a Kiphun/Saban Iron Bowl is must watch nationally.

4.Auburn will never let an assistant coach leave for the same job somewhere else if the HC wants him to stay.

5. Ole Miss developed a culture of "Winning the tailgate," because the product on the field was never able to compete. This is ingrained and it's why the football game is a distraction on Saturday, and the Grove is the real attraction. Lain knows this.

Announced 2nd commercial break during halftime of the Iron Bowl.

Getting caught? There could have been an hour long video of Saban hand delivering stacks of cash a la Ed McMahon and Publlisher's Clearinghouse, and the NCAA would've turned a blind eye. There was so much in your face cheating going on at Alabama, you'd have to be Heller Keller not to notice it. Let's face it, Ole Miss and Freeze was a threat to Saban, and he had his buddy running the NCAA take them down.

1. Kiffin

2. I get the feeling that Auburn is swinging for the fences on this hire. They will offer him in the 9.5-10m range and he wont be able to say no.

3. Morning after IB

Freeze was 7-6 his first year at Ole Miss
Kiffin was 5-5 his first year at Ole Miss (COVID)

Since Kiffin's first year was a COVID year, it's hard to say, but I'll call it even.

Freeze was 8-5 his second year at Ole Miss
Kiffin was 10-3 his second year at Ole Miss

Advantage Kiffin

Freeze was 9-4 his 3rd season at Ole Miss
Kiffin is 8-2 right now in his third year.

I would say small advantage Kiffin.

Freeze's best year was his 4th year when he went 10-3. Kiffin had that record in his 2nd season.

One glaring difference..... the overall state of the SEC West during their tenures at OM. The SEC West of today is joke compared to then. To put it into perspective, Auburn finished last in the division with a 7-6 overall record.

quote:

G5 coaching

Kiffin coached at FAU for 3 seasons and went 26-13. He had one 11 win season and one 10 win season.

Freeze has coached 3 full seasons at Liberty and went 26-11. He had one 10 win season there (other two were 8-5).

Liberty is not in a conference, so it's impossible to compare conference titles. But Kiffin won the conference 2 of his 3 years.
Again context. Liberty just jumped to FBS two years ago. To compile that record, after a major move up in competition, speaks volumes.

quote:

I'd rather have Kiffin because he has no moral baggage to deal with. He is Joey Freshwater, but he didn't become that until he was already divorced.
Beleive it or not, but men cheating on their wife is a story as old as dirt. Not saying all husband do, and certainly not condoning it. The thing is, did he admit to his mistake and change? Well, his wife seems to think so as she is still married to him and there hasn't been a hint of that since. On the other hand, you have a 40 something year old man, giving a fake name to pick up college coeds at bars. Is there a red-blooded male in Tuscaloosa that didn't know who Lane Kiffin was and could easily recognize him?

Now the biggest advantage Freeze has over Kiffin is this:

Kiffin is not exactly known for staying with the same employer. He quits or get fired in a relatively short period of time. What makes you think will change if/when he gets the Auburn job? If hired at Auburn, this will be his 3rd SEC HC job. Hell, even Saban let him go a week before the natty game because he was not doing his job and focusing more on the next one.

What a pathetic argument. Freeze’s invited the NCAA to his front doors

1. Kiffen

2. Because we have boosters with lots of money who want him.

3. After Ole Miss's last regular season game.

I'd take Freeze though because I think he's as good a coach as Kiffen and, for some reason, I think he's more motivated.

1: Freeze

2: Out of the top 3-4 names of proven coaches he's the easiest to get. Kiffin would be best option imo but I'm not sure he'd leave Ole Miss for Auburn. Not because Ole Miss is a better job but because he knows he'll be in the mix for jobs he'd rather have in the next couple years.

It won’t be Freeze, Prime or Lane. Probably someone who is not even being talked about right now.

Lane knows he can’t wait until after the bowl game. Notre Dame did fine last year and Kelly knew he needed to leave as soon as the regular season ended.

Unfortunately, I agree. I want Prime, Freeze, Kiffin, in that order, but I've been a fan for far too long to really believe that any of these will happen.
