How do we think Rhule would do with recruiting?

Zero ties to this area.

right back at you, you're changing the topic to prove a point which isn't proving a point at all, just because I don't have a solution with the given availability doesn't make yours correct.

I think Deion wouldn't want or need control. I think Deion is driven by having people say "Damn he is even great at Coaching", Deion wants screentime, why not be the vehicle that gets him there, we win too if he is successful. He would hire a very solid staff, beyong anything he has at JSU....I'd take their DC and TE coach over the ones we have. Can you imagine the fun Sanders and Pearl would be on campus together?

Alabama State had never sold a game completely out before...until Saturday.

Deion could be a huge risk, could be a disaster even but we know recruiting would get a huge jolt. Deion with full support, NIL, the new facilities we are building, I will take my chances.

Ok so for those who are pro or opposed to Matt Rhule...how would you negative recruit him if you were an opposing coach?

I will start. He won't be there long enough to get you into the NFL. He may know people but when the NFL opens another door for him he is gone.

Your turn...

Definitely one of the risks I would highlight for him.

Has proven to hire good assistants but could he grasp the vital importance of recruiting at Auburn in a way Harsin couldn’t? Good question.

tbf I like Rocky's selection of coaches, but they aren't all available and some look not to be willing to leave where they are.

You know I love me some Deion but I highly doubt Auburn brokers care to show interest. They would find a retread before they think outside the box even when they know they need a great hire to put some enthusiasm back into the program and to get us competitive with our rivals again.

Yep I brought up the concern of him moving to something different or did he learn something like Saban and wants to build something long term?

I doubt the NFL comes calling again for a bit or at all. But what if ND, or an OU, or other blue blood opportunity rears it’s head?

But same can be said for Prime and Kiffin.

It might be, but we need to consider everything about our next possible coach, everything. No matter who it is. Would recruiting be a legitimate concern? He's never had recruiting expectations on him like he will have from second 1 at Auburn

Umm I have offered choices. I never said Rhule is the correct hire just that he is a legit option for consideration.

My legit problem with Rhule is his team's offensive woes, while defensively somewhat sound. It's the same problem we mostly have here.

I would go hard for Rhule, and whether or not we were willing to pull the trigger and pay big bucks for him would be dependent on the tBinder (or the Chizik equivalent here).

The reservation is obvious - will he do what is required to recruit in this conference and in this era and does he have a plan for how to make Auburn relevant with the recruiting psychopaths we compete with?

If he persuasively shows he understands that challenge and has a plan for it, then I think he should be perhaps the top candidate. Candidly, I don't need him to compete with Kirby for the crown. I need him to recruit at a consistent top 10-15 level and turn the program around.

I want to complete forward passes consistently, block, and never be 30 point underdogs to UGA again.

Let's start there

I don’t disagree with that at all but a very high risk he leaves as well. FSU ever calls, he is gone.

My comment to you wasn’t to say Deion is not to be considered but if such a high risk candidate like Deion is high on your list, how can one push aside a Matt Rhule? It just didn’t make sense to me.

His recruiting, saying and doing are way different. Ask Tater Salad Harsin

To be fair, Harsin probably never actually had a successful plan for recruiting, he just wasn’t properly vetted by Greene. I’m sure he said some of the right things, and figured hiring Bobo and Mason to do the work for him would be enough.

Whoever we hire this time needs to have a real plan for recruiting, and Auburn needs to have that plan/approach vetted by someone who knows how recruiting actually works these days and can make an informed evaluation
