Like I said, he's an impact player and Barber wasn't so they will turn the blind eye.

I highly doubt that. These domestic violence incidents can be complicated. And even the slam dunk events turn out unexpectedly.
Anybody remember seeing the video of a Mississippi State recruit beating the ever living hell out of an older woman. That dude went on to play for state snd then the NFL.

You can repeat that all you want, it doesn’t make it any less silly of a comparison.

Charlie5 stated that he wasn’t going to go much into detail, “but I think Malcolm is gonna make it through this.”
I actually agree with Auburn’s approach. Gather all the facts. Don’t jump to harsh conclusions.

You don’t agree? You think we should’ve kicked him off the team immediately after allegations were made?
I just think DV/SA allegations should be investigated. Shawn Oakman, for example. Ruined his career over a lie.

Trevor Bauer was a sexual deviant. The woman probably was too, but she played him.

I don’t agree with Trevor’s sexual acts or the things into in the bedroom but he got written acceptance of that behavior in his text messages from the 2 women that accused him.
The one lady actually went to jail on felony charges of fraudulent schemes and theft by extortion.
That’s a far cry from DV with strangulation.
I don’t like either situation but let it play out. No one was here to witness what happened. There are to many cases of situations like this where a person is jailed when innocent and when let go when actually done something.

No I agree with you. Women are crazy these days and certainly bring up shite charges.
I just hope we are all so liberal when its not a Auburn football player.
Is there really any evidence that he is being falsely accused other than beat writer speculation

It is he said/she said, there isn't any real evidence (known at this point) that he is being rightfully accused or wrongfully accused. Her not pressing charges and how quickly his arrest record being removed from the county site (booking data and release data) at least gives some arrows into the quiver that at the very minimum, the initial accusation was at least possibly overstated and possibly so much as to being a false accusation or malicious accusation.
It absolutely sucks that we've gotten to a point that SA has been used in such ways these days, as it should not be something taken lightly. However, it has been used to cry wolf so much in recent years, especially with athletes/celebrities, that this is where we are.

Completely agree.

My nephew sent me a twitter post with Malcom working out with Terrell Owens in Alex City.
Understanding that he can't use the AU facilities while this is pending, this is a strong move.

Either way, I’m just a fan. I have no pull one way or the other.
If he did it, prison time. If not, and it’s just BS allegations, I hope it doesn’t ruin his life and career.

Where are y'all seeing that she's not pressing charges? Yesterday, AL.com reported that there will be a preliminary hearing on 8/13. If she's not pressing charges, why would there be any further court action?

As for evidence, the officers who respond to the initial call reported bruises on her neck. What kind of evidence would you expect? Unlikely there would be video, and I'd expect a lot (MOST?) DV arrests have no corroborating witnesses. If she's falsely accusing him, how did the bruises get there? Did she strangle herself? If someone else did it, wouldn't she have him arrested?

I wasn't there and won't claim to know. He's entitled to his day in court with a presumption of innocence. We'll see.

Doesn't take much, people will kill for less than a weeks pay, and the guy after him could have done it. There's only a couple who truly know unless it was a group affair. And yes she might be as pure as the driven snow before they met. Just a lot of what if's right now.

quote:Only comparison I made this time was their level of impact on the team. If Malcolm Simmons was sitting 6th on the depth chart he would be at the very least suspended right now. We are in a make a break season though so he's getting a pass. I get it.. you don't want to think Auburn (or maybe Freeze) would do something like that, but here we are and they are doing it.

He is supposedly suspended and not able to work out at Auburn facilities.
Posted on 7/23/25 at 11:46 am to jt33
I’m not saying what did or didn’t happen with Simmons because I sure as hell have no idea
…but one can assume that with these players now making pro money, the gold digging whore factor goes up 1000x and they need to be cognizant of that when dealing with women moving forward. No more flippant highschool or college dalliances without some serious vetting.
