Would like to hear your reason for why Gus is still a great coach

He told me I was "being retarded" on tRant yesterday and I told him to "enjoy your tequila in denial."

Hooks bent. Rotten line. Stank bait.

Is this a check-in thread for Lanier’s battered victims?

Gus has been figured out. It isn't hard unless you've got an iq equal to room temperature or your average Bama fan. Sadly the AU Pres is a walking Neanderthal that signed us up for multiple years of mediocre vandyesque football.

I’ll bite. I don’t think Gus is great, but any coach would lose with Stidham at QB.
His performance yesterday was pathetic. Sean White with a broken arm was better than that.

He did fine at Baylor

Lanier is posting #metoo on Twitter right now. Gus is his pic profile.

Since you seem so interested in my opinion, I will give it to you. So flame away
You want to know why the team is losing? The players are not executing. Is that the coaches fault? Ultimately yes. But the players are making too many stupid mistakes right now to win. Is it Gus's fault? Sure it is so we should fire him
You lost at Mississippi State because you took 4 sure touchdowns off the board. Is it Gus's fault? Ultimately yes. It is his fault that Boobie fumbled the ball while diving once the end zone. It is also Gus's fault because Stidham over threw two guys for TD's that were 20 yards open. It is also Gus's fault because Slayton dropped a easy catch in the corner of the endzone. So yes, those 28 points taken off the board are on Gus.
As for Saturday, yes it is Gus's fault because once again Stidham cant hit a wide open receiver and when he finally does, Slayton drops a TD pass that even I could have caught. It is also Gus's fault that our star QB once again, like he has since he came here, threw two interceptions that could only make you laugh then fumbled a ball for a return TD. Again. Its also Gus' fault that the defense is starting to look like swiss cheese. All ultimately his fault. So yes, we should fire him
But my real response to you is that.... wait for it. I told you so. I told you three years ago that we were running the wrong offense. That we did not have the right Qb or system for this head coach. I also told you that we were not recruiting the right type of running backs. Both these things were argued to death. I was told that Barrett, Malik Miller, Iggy, Cam Martin, etc, etc were going to be great running backs even though they were obviously the wrong guys. That is working out great right now.
Just like I told you Sean White was the wrong guy, I told you again that Stidham is the wrong guy and that our running back recruiting was all wrong. And that is on Gus and he should be accountable for it. Its his fault for getting away from what he knows how to do. He can not coach this style of offense and any idiot can see that. And if some of you think Joey Gatewood, Nix or, and I laugh at this one, Cord Sandburg is going to fix that , you are going to be very disappointed.
This coach has a offensive system. That system needs a few parts. He has not recruited those parts and that is on him and he should be held accountable for it. Do we need to fire him. Sure. That will make all Auburn fans happy then we can tear it all down and start over again.
But in the end, the team is losing because the players are not executing right now. Its not like we are getting blown out of games and have no chance to win them. It is ultimately the head coaches responsibility so sure fire him now. Get Lane or Bobby or whatever other degenerate you want in here so we can certainly start to beat Bama and UGA every year. No way Gus could do that

You’re not wrong. I’m just sick of his stubborn behavior. When something doesn’t or isn’t working he continues to pound the square peg in a round hole. You talk about white and stidham. Let’s not forget Jeremy Johnson. That’s a pattern. That IS Gus’ fault.

Great coaches adapt to the strength of their players and Gus has proven he is incapable of adapting. Look across the state at Saban, he use to only have a game manager QB then he got Jalen and adapted to a running Qb and now he has a gun slinger in Tua and he's not making him a game manager, he's letting him throw it around and BAMA is absolutely lighting up the score board and stats.

He's a QB killer and unless he puts his pride on the shelf and will bring in someone (OC or QB coach, hell even an advisor / analyst guy) who CAN develop a QB then YES (UNsarcasticly) he DOES need to GTFO. This is his main problem and HAS BEEN for YEARS.

LS hits on this, but what is frustrating is Gus is still a young coach. If we hire another "up and comer" we will have to ween him off the tit, too. It is like having a kid in your 40s. I am too old for that shite. I just wish Gus would adjust. When you do a cost analysis of keeping him vs blowing this thing up, there isn't a clear answer.
ETA:
Just to enforce my concept. Saban, Ed O, Kiffin, etc all hit the same wall. Seems like they needed to fail before realizing what the hell they are doing. Smart is struggling right now, too. He just has that weak schedule to hide behind.

Two different personalities. Gus told Kirby after TDSOR last year he will see him in two weeks.
