Are we waiting until December for his decision?

I know lots of people want Kiffin but I don't think he's worth 7.5 to 8 Million a year when he can't beat the teams that matter. He only has Bama and a Bowl game left on the schedule and I don't see him beating Bama. That will leave Kentucky as his best win and that can't be ignored. He will also have to play UGA and not Vandy every year.

He's at Ole Miss. He's doing well with their roster.

He'd play UGA at Auburn, not with Ole Miss's roster.

Who is your choice then?
Since Rhule, Freeze, and Grimes aren't being talked about, that's probably the list. That's typically how these things go. Float names and have reporters and fans chase the headlines, while interviewing/negotiating behind the scenes.

I personally don't have a preferred choice. I think all five would be good hires, with some having more risk and unknowns than others. I'll let Cohen figure it out and just root for the new guy to do well.

Kiffin or Prime Time would instantly improve the roster. There’s going to be a ton of portal guys come December.

The Prime bump would be insane. Evidently recruits have specifically said if he goes to AU they're going.

Freeze just renegotiated so I think that's going to be tough.

Grimes isn't a splash hire IMO. Nothing against the guy but I'm not going to be excited about it either and I think many fans won't be.

Rhule is really interesting. You could give him a moderate contract (within reason) with huge incentives and Carolina makes up the difference if he doesn't hit incentives. Use the rest of your booster money on NIL.

Yea because every coach at AU either has an undefeated season, wins a natty or plays in one.

AU is a place where that SHOULD happen if you coach well.

At OM people are happy to get boozed up in the grove and take photos of his lab.

The question is what can he do with top recruits? He has a 5* QB that is playing like a 3.5* at best and his defense is only 2 spots ahead of Auburn in the conference. He's just having a good year from playing bad teams.

Rhule- I'd melt, a little. Then I'd deep dive into my inner AU fan and make peace with it by Feb. I'd probably even convince myself we'd make a bowl with the right transfers.

Freeze- I'd melt, a lot. Then I'd let these Freeze-loving idiots talk me into optimism. I'd silently vomit inside every time I heard him talk or saw his bucktoothed grin sporting AU attire. Maybe, I could make peace by August. If he proved me wrong by winning, I'd be happy to eat crow. But as soon as we had our O disappear against a questionable opponent, I'd be digging up my anti-Freeze posts and bumping them.

Grimes- I'd nuclear melt, for a long time. I'd wonder why we suck at asking the pretty girl to dance. Why must we find the homeliest in the crowd? I would probably quit caring for the next few years, and if he built a program up, I'd shuffle to the back of the band wagon.

The facilities and the "draw" at Ole Miss vs Auburn are not comparable and you know that.

But, since its just about coaching ability and not the aforementioned........why didnt Nick Saban stay at Toledo, surely he could have won as many national championships.

He's definitely worth 7.5-8m a year. The problem is it'll take 10ish a year, and he's probably not worth that.

But if he can average 9+ wins at Auburn, we haven't been in that territory for a while. Is that worth 10M a year for AU? Probably.

I agree. We should focus in on Saban, Kirby, Dabo, and Day. We will offer $6mill/yr and unlimited Doritos.

Ole Miss can still go to the playoffs if they win out, so he's not going to see himself short just yet.

Right you are sir, if he beats Bama he is going to the SEC championship and crushing any hopes of signing a half decent class as well as a late start on the portal.

So that means there will be a lot of closet supporters of Bama on the board, for a game at least
