Read on reddit that The Athletic laid off Justin and 45 other writers this morning.

0.0% chance I renew my subscription now, hopefully Justin finds employment elsewhere quickly, I think he provides by far the best Auburn coverage of any of the beat writers.

I doubt this has to do w Justin and more that being a a new sports venture when sports aren't playing is not good business

Is he still on the local ESPN radio show?

There’s a whole thread on the Auburn 247 board shitting on Marcello and pointing out how much better Ferg would be

It’s awesome. I’m going to be butthurt if someone hires him to cover a rival school

Agreed. Not only is he damn good but he came from our own auburn journalism school.

THen Auburn should try to hire him. I really liked his in depth analysis and the details he provided. You could tell he did his homework...

Justin overcame that and became a pretty good reporter, so I don’t hold that against him.

There have been a number of good writers come out of that school lately. Nate King for example is doing excellent work for the auburn rivals site

I held off on a subscription to the site for years. Finally got it in February of this year... Then COVID hits and J Ferg canned? I'm done.

Couldn’t pull the trigger on The Athletic. Auburn coverage wasn’t enough to do it and I’m just not a big fan of their Braves writers
