Jay Jacobs is doing his best to make me quit caring about Auburn athletics, and I love to see someone stand up to make a change.

I just feel like the support I put forth is for waste as long as this buffoon is running our AD.

If you cannot tell, I REALLY want to see us move on from JJ...and I mean move on! If he retires, I don't want to see him meddling in any way in our AD.

Agree 100%. No way should Jay Jacobs ever be allowed to hire another football coach at Auburn.

You do realize that having an established, in-control AD in place for a possible coaching search following 2016 means firing Jay Jacobs in the next 4-5 months?

Straw poll - if we burn out again this year, and you had to choose, who would you rather have us retain for at least one more year - Malzahn or Jacobs?

Keeping a lame duck Malzahn has major recruiting baggage. But keeping Jacobs means he'll be the one to hire yet another football coach.

Fired Tubs after he went 85-40. Tubs brought in a ton of money with good auburn teams. The only way Jacobs has a job is cam newton.

Keep Malzahn, get rid of Jacobs.

No question for me.

I wish I could say I never had to leave AU for work. Most wonderful place in the world. Good for him. And when he is not AD, he will be right where he is now. Don't hate success - appreciate it. Maybe it can be your kid someday or for some of you kids on here - maybe it can be you

Yep. We tend to be fickle and revise our history around these parts...

Off the top of my head, these are the major things that Jacobs gets blamed for. HOWEVER, he has also received major praise for them as well.

1. Gene Chizik
2. Gus Malzahn
3. Will Muschamp
4. Sunny Golloway
5. The $14m TV

Currently, we selectively forget two great hires, or explain them away as if any old ding dong could have made them happen.

1. Bruce Pearl
2. Clint Myers

I have my own qualms about contract structures and money stuff....but the guy is not a total failure. Also...I still refuse to believe that he unilaterally gets to make any of these decisions.

Women's softball coach is his second best hire and you don't see how that is an issue? No one cares about that sport.

How about Jacobs getting railroaded and giving up the home/away split in the Amen corner? Then that dumbass had the nerve to pat himself on the back to the media. The smart thing to do would have been to end Amen corner by moving the UGA game.

He also backed into the Meyers hire. His son is a travel softball coach here in Hoover and wanted to be closer to his family

quote:

Corey is in Birmingham working for a travel ball organization called the Birmingham Thunderbolts. They were founded and are funded by an Auburn football alum named Richard Shea. Richard knows Corey and Clint because he used to take his daughter out to ASU's camps and spent time talking with them. A former ASU player (I forget her name) also used to come help the Bolts during the summer and was a live in nanny for the Shea's as well. Corey coaches the Gold team and gives private lessons in Birmingham. The Bolts have a 2 field complex with an indoor hitting facility. Richard's daughter will be a senior this fall and is committed to play softball at Missouri.

JJ... gets all the blame when things out of his control happen (like this amen corner bullshite) and gets lucky when good things happen (like Clint Myers hire).

This man can never win

No. The problem is the best thing he can crow about is making a good softball hire. That is pathetic.
