I actually warmed to the idea of him taking over eventually in the past year or so.

I’m sure that was part of the plan so maybe I’m just falling for that but I don’t hate it.

Same. Not sure if it’s warranted excitement or just acceptance of what I knew was coming.

Going to be interesting to see what Steven and Burger Master do together. I'd assume he probably becomes the associate HC. Wonder if we bring anyone else on for this year or not.

Probably promote from within this year and depending on performance look elsewhere after the season.

These rumors were around back in January among some boosters, but everyone assumed after the end of the year he’d coach one more.

I was told 5-6 years ago that Todd Golden was going to be the replacement, but obviously that didn’t work out. Bruce then moved to grooming Steven for the job.

I don’t believe Bruce would have stepped aside if he didn’t think Steven was ready. This whole move was set up for Steven to take over seamlessly.

I had heard similar about Golden as well and agree, since really 22/23, we've been operating that this would be the eventual plan. I did think we were going to have one more out of Bruce or have a bit more of a farewell season with Steven kind of taking things over throughout the season.

I think he will do fine. I am sure there will be some growing pains, but he has had a huge hand in our success. It will be the same staff. Everything is the same except for the Pearl in charge. I feel good about the bball program.

Court mannerisms should be the same, that’s a good sign

As long as we can retain the roster I don't hate how this played out, other than the damn "leak" ahead of time.

If we wind up losing a few players from a roster that wasnt carrying the max number of players it may be a rough year that Steven shouldn't wholly get the blame for.

Hopefully, everyone stays and we get a decent look at what Steven and crew can do.

So is this going to end up reminding us old timers of Barfield the hand picked successor to Shug?

Barfield was not the worst coach we ever had. I think we did have at least one winning season while he was HFC
