The bet was regular season.

since we are offering receipts:

2013 was an abberation but the talent was there.

Depth and talent are not there today.

Feel free to offer a ban bet.

We are better. We don’t know how much better. Not yet

8-5 is next step higher for a damn good first season.

Championships are the goal but it takes more than one recruiting year.

I think I read where 5 of the 2021 signing class is still around.

The rosters are nowhere near similar.

The floor this year can easily be 5 wins and that includes 3 rent a wins. And the floor is made of Cheetos. It can break.

This is me saying in May that our intestinal fortitude was made of cheetos.....and those cheetos broke

I cant think of a single position where our guy stood tallest.

Thorne actually did pretty well in a losing affair where we didnt even deserve him.

That is only one out of 22 teams on the list.

And like how would they have done in the SEC instead of the ACC?

You’re setting up a red herring , and ignoring the fact that NMSU was a 24 + point underdog playing on the road in Auburn.

And it isn’t as if Hugh Freeze had never coached a major program before.

But cope as you feel the need.

Jeez some of you really don’t get this is a process do you? I’ve never seen a fan base so bent on instant results yet openly discusses how far behind we are other teams in talent. Get a grip and wait more than a season to make a decision.

Bro “instant results” and losing by 21 at home to a conference USA team aren’t even in the same fricking building.

It wasn’t what we wanted and I get that it shouldn’t happen but let’s be real here that’s one of the best teams that New Mexico State has ever had and we got caught napping. That’s on coaching too but I’m not ready to write off a guy who is known for turning around programs off bad loss year 1 without a full deck of the guys own recruits. You got a miracle fix?

Thats the point the apologist are not willing to see. It is a huge issue and it should be discussed. Nobody is getting fired but there will be a harshly worded letter in someones personnel file.

At the end of the day, the loss sucked. It's all about how the coaches and team respond - not just for iron bowl but recruiting and bowl game

We all knew going in that this season was a going to be a shite show. It's a big deal but really not that big of a deal given our circumstances and season

I will disagree with this statement. No matter how many times its posted. I agree that people who are not high on crack knew this team would not be a good one. We saw it early and we dont have a QB on the roster but we shouldnt be that bad. Not even close really

We keep saying we need talent. Talent will not be the answer as long as our leadership can not field a team that is prepared and ready to play. Ask Jimbo Fisher.

My question is, did yesterday absolutely prove that coaches are who their history says they are? Will Hugh Freeze always have a slump game like this, no matter the talent? Fielding a unprepared team is not about talent. It is about coaching.

I dont know how to find the talent gap between this roster and what NM has but I am pretty sure there is a huge gap. Plus, its not like it was our 2nd or 3rd game. Its the 11th game of the season. Bugs should be worked out by now. And there was zero adjustments. Zero

Are we going down a road where we buy up some talent only to be disappointed in games like this every year? Maybe not by New Mexico but by teams we should beat easily

Why do we instantly have to go from “writing off a guy” to not holding him accountable? Yesterday should not have happened, end of story. It’s a blemish on our program.

How are you going to hold him accountable, smoke?

That team methodically whooped us. They were better than us in every phase of the game. What is his punishment?

Everything here is perfect.

This roster actually beat 3 SEC teams this season and came within 14 combined points of two of the best teams in the SEC (one of which is the #1 team in the country). Out of 7 SEC games we played, only 2 were completely dominated by our opponent.

Considering that we were playing a G5 team which had never beaten an SEC opponent before, and we got slapped by 21 points at home with a roster that is FAR from the worst in the SEC in terms of talent, it is a really really bad look.

It's a bad look because it continues to prove the one big flaw in Freeze's entire coaching history: he lacks focus over the course of a full schedule. Almost all of his teams have losses like this at some point in the season. He is an elite recruiter and can legitimately challenge the best teams in the country and beat them once he gets going; but he seems incapable of fielding a finished product.

New Mexico State handled and manipulated us in every phase of the game. They have also demolished Freeze two years in a row now. You are not going to convince me Freeze looked past that 35 point whipping he had last year. That team would have beat those 3 SEC teams.

You also called Malik Willis a Ferrari to Bo Nix a fricking kia.

Meta, just let me think for you. You are smarter that way.

Well that's just not true. The very first one I saw was Eugene Asante sitting in a folding chair by himself looking like someone just killed his dog in front of him.

And he is a mercenary transfer.

No, they wouldn't have.

New Mexico State has also lost to 3-8 UMASS (a team we killed btw) and 4-8 Hawaii. Two weeks ago they barely beat a 4-7 MTSU team in a 13-7 game. This is not some juggernaut G5 monster; the majority of their games have been extremely close. Three weeks ago they won by 3 points against a 3-9 La Tech team. So not only are two of their losses against losing teams with a combined record of 7-16, but they have barely scratched out wins against a few other G5 schools which are literal garbage this season.

The thought of building New Mexico State into some team capable of beating multiple SEC teams is major cope. Arkansas for example beat the same Florida team which nearly beat a Top 15 ranked Missouri team last night. MSU has killed all three of the non-conference opponents they played this season - a combined score of 130 to 55. They also beat #17 Arizona by the way (who is 8-3).

New Mexico might have beaten Vanderbilt, but even they beat Hawaii who NMSU lost to. Either way, Auburn is much better than Vanderbilt which paints just how bad yesterday's loss was.
