Kessler and Smith are generational college ball talent, the team goes 10 deep, veteran players. With transfer rules as they are now I'm not sure that we will ever duplicate what we are seeing now.

If we finish the season with giving Jabari the touches (and he produces), you are probably correct. But I would not have even seen this year coming 6 months ago, so I trust Bruce. Kessler though...I will miss that guy!

Guards are gonna have to play better. The tournament is dominated by guard play. Always has been. Always will be.

Somewhat agree but there also aren't that many teams with awesome guard play this season. Last year the two teams in the title game had far superior guards to anything I see anywhere this year. A quick look at the Cousy award semifinalists is pretty underwhelming compared to past years:
Jahvon Quinerly Alabama
Wendell Green Jr. Auburn
James Akinjo Baylor
Isaiah Stevens Colorado State
Andrew Nembhard Gonzaga
Sahvir Wheeler Kentucky
Will Richardson Oregon
Kennedy Chandler Tennessee
Tyger Campbell UCLA
Collin Gillespie Villanova

That’s just point guards. Think about the Purdue shooting guard and the guy at Wisconsin plus others.

Tenn and UK (when healthy) have awesome backcourts… will be interesting to see how our game in Knoxville plays out.

We are at our best when Jabari gets the pass and is making shots while kessler is getting the basket defense, rebounds, and close basket pass to dunk/layup/alleyoop

Even more true than that, great players dominant the tourney. Jabari and walker will still thrive

I can only think of one big man that carried his team to the title: Danny Manning. Maybe I'm wrong?

AD was the main reason for the UK run years back.

Partially true, but Danny Manning proved otherwise

Yea I wouldn’t call them “generational” overall however I do think Kessler is a generation type defenders and Jabari is a generational type shooter for his size

Having two of them on one team certainly feels generational. Calling college bball players generational now feels weird for some reason. Last truly "generational" guys I can remember in the SEC are maybe Shaq and Anthony Davis? Like where you put them on any SEC team and that team is instantly solid.

Yeah but Purdue has some other fatal flaws and Wisconsin could make a decent run I think but not sure they have the horses behind Davis. Point is I think our guards are close to on par with the best back courts among elite teams. Green/Jasper/KD aren’t as good as UT or UK’s backcourts but it’s not some crazy difference.

One of the better observations I had from last night was KD driving with better discipline and making the correct pass several times, vs wildly going up.
Still holding out hope that Flan can get going in March.

Would you think this duo is better than the Barkley/Person duo?
Can you think of any other duos that dominated for Auburn?
I know for guards it would have to be Brown/Harper too...

You'll have the answer in March

That's why I used the term generational , you have to go that far back to think of a duo that can be as dominant and can alter the way games are played by themselves. Now neither may have the pro careers of those two but at the college level they are as good.
