Also seeing some of the replies I should have worded it better, I was really thinking generational in AU terms, as in we may not have a front court like this for another 20- 30 years if history holds. I wasn't comparing Kessler to Shaq or Smith to Durant. I was just thinking will we ever assemble a team this talented and experienced again, I'm not sure we will.

You are dating yourself. Greatest big man game, Bill Walton against Memphis St.

Oh boy, the football fans are discussing our basketball future with well over a month of season left. Knew the bandwagoning would eventually get old.

We were a better team with Chuma in 2019. That team buzzsawed everyone in front of them and was a shoe in for a National Championship if Chuma didn’t go down.

This current team is good but doesn’t appear to have near the firepower as that team.

So, to answer your question, no, this isn’t our best. And I expect we’ll have better teams than the current one in the future under Pearl. Our guard play is underwhelming, to say the least. And Flanigan is non existent most of the time due to the injury.

I can only think of one big man that carried his team to the title: Danny Manning. Maybe I'm wrong?

I've been ecstatic about the season. Better then I could have imagined and nothing that can be expected generally regardless of coach or players you have.

But, Now that we are in it what is your expectation level and what would be your level of disappointment if we don't fulfill some of the expectations.

For me...

SEC Regular Season Title - Extremely disappointed if we don't win it. Disappointed if we share.

SEC Tourney - Get rest leading up to the tournament and get accustomed to the larger arenas. At least 1 win. 0 wins would be a little disappointing.

Big Dance - Expectation sweet 16 at a minimum. Any loss prior would be a complete shock and terrible showing. Elite 8 would make me happy and completely understand anything could happen after an elite 8 appearance. But but but a title for lil ol' Auburn would be huge. WDE

This makes much more sense. I just hate how loosely that term is thrown around these days given by its definition it's not possible to be utilized as often as it is.

But to your clarified point yes it's very possible we may not see two guys like this in the front court again for a very long time.

I will be disappointed if we don't make the Final 4.

You are underselling this team by almost any measure

I’m pretty much in line with this. Elite 8 is always an acceptable season even for blue bloods. I’d be very happy with this phenomenal regular season + elite 8 and pretty happy even with with a sweet 16

This team is really good but we've recently lost to Arkansas and narrowly escaped two bad teams in Georgia and Missouri.

I don't see this team becoming an offensive juggernaut and ripping off 12 straight from late February until the Final Four like the 2019 team did.

Auburn's certainly capable of reaching the Final Four but I don't see a 2019 level buzzsaw to dominate the close to the regular season, SEC tourney, and then to the Final Four.

Keep in mind the final four team barely squeaked by a really bad Uga team in Athens 78-75 with four games left on the regular season schedule and had several close wins to end the regular season before becoming dominant in the SECT.

That team was hardly a buzz saw when it squeaked by NMSU in round 1 and a 2 win Georgia team. We are talking about the best regular season we will likely ever see at Auburn and a team that is capable of absolutely anything

True but we won the SEC Tournament title by 20 and rolled through Kansas and North Carolina like they were mid major squads. Even went on to beat Kentucky and essentially Virginia without our best player. All I'm saying is that was an insane level of play.

Neither team has anything to do with the other. Will be a completely different field and path to the final 4. I understand that 2019 Late Feb and during the tournament is the standard but the teams are nothing alike.

Phenomenal regular season has to be capped off with a regular season championship. And then I’d agree with this.

We will never see a Kessler again. I'm trying to take it in and just appreciate it.
