We have people who literally dont want a coach because he hasn't worked in the south. Thats a bad mindset. You can follow Gus to his next Sun Belt title though Lanier

Auburn is not hiring a non-bonafied goofball like MSU did with its last two coaches. I'll give you odds on a gentlemans bet on that fact. Three years ago I had never heard of Cristobal or Scott Frost. Two years I never heard of Fleck or Campbell. One year ago, Napier. New names will always emerge. So we should not fire someone in fear of missing out, but I don’t like the “who ya gonna get” argument by others (not you.) There are always options.
As an aside( I heard in July a rumor from someone that claims to be in the know that Bob Stoops to Auburn is still in the works. I didn’t mention it then but I do wonder if his name should be more relevant. lol. Because that Josh Moon dude didn’t seem like the type to make shite up.

I literally never said that you said that. Just that others have said it. If you click back one page, you can see it. You made a whole comment about speaking honestly without even doing 10 seconds of research to see what I was referencing.

I don’t care where the next coach comes from but if he is going to compete for championships he better be able to recruit in the top 5 each year because 3 of the teams on our schedule do. That’s the name of the game now. Show me a team that wins 10-12 games a year and I will show you a team that has more talent then 10-12 teams on their schedule. Bottom line is whoever the coach is has to equal out recruiting with Bama UGa and LSU some. We are as far away from UGA and Bama as the Mississippi schools are from us

Interesting. I wonder how many total games each of those teams have played as a top 10 team. I would bet Auburn had more games which in turn means the possibility of more loses. Plus, I would think our opponents are much higher ranked than Penn States but that would be interesting data to have

Or our losses last year to Florida and Minnesota.
Or our losses to MSU and Tennessee in 2018.
Superior recruiting can’t always overcome poor preparation, flawed game planning, sloppy execution, inadequate in-game adjustments and bad coaching decisions.
