I love a back that goes full speed into the line but KJ has taught me that isn't always necessary. I got frustrated with him at first but he is damn good at letting things develop and then accelerating.

KJ reminded me of Mason Saturday. When everyone knew we were running he found creases and dove forward for 5yds every time. Mason was great at getting 3rd and 3. It is one key to a Gus offense.

There were numerous times I thought KJ was down and he squirter out for another 3 yards. Everyone likes a squirter.

Didnt Cadillac carry the ball like 44 times against Georgia one year? Tubbs thought nothing of that.

Kerryon has an NFL body, stride, and physicality. He is lacking a little bit in the vision department but I really like his game. Probably my favorite Auburn back since Kenny Irons.

Disagree on the vision part. His vision is what makes him so effective. The only thing he really lacks is top end speed. I'd be surprised he ran better than a 4.5 40 at the combine

Tre managed to get 1000 yards in the season that never happened (2012). Think about that for a second. AU has been blessed with great RBs.

I'm a huge Cadillac fan but Kerryon is a gifted athlete. The way he keeps a hand on a blocker and reads the openings is amazing. One of the best stiff arms. He's boxing while running.

Either him or Kam broke one on the first drive then came out with a pulled hammy.

That was KJ but it was Georgia Southern.

To me, he reminds me of a taller James Brooks. Really shifty moves and great vision. And they both wore #21. Younger AU fans may not realize just how great a back Brooks was. Like KJ, he was electric

The fun thing is that we get to have this discussion. Two great backs that make it hard to decide which was better. I think overall Tre had more long carries but he also was in a system that helped the running game. The fact that he had the Nick Marshall (Legend) threat, it opened up the run. Plus, we certainly lived on the run in 2013

clown fricking statement right there. His vision is one of his best traits

I am glad to see him getting his stiff arm strong. I am not sure if the OL and play calling has given him an easier path or he has gotten better all year. I guess a little of both, but his patience and vision seem to be supernatural.

I did a quick comparison to where Tre Mason was after the Georgia game versus Kerryon currently. Tre obviously played in two more game, but only had 10 more carries for 120 more yards- 1,153 vs. 1,035. Based on that Tre was averaging about .25 more yards per carry.

If you take into account the receiving as well they both had 17 TD's at this point in the season, and Tre only had about 75 more total yards. Also, Kerryon had the two more impressive game to this point, with his 227 total yards performance against Ole Miss and 233 total yards against Georgia.

Of course we all know how Tre Mason's season finished: 167 yards against Bama, 312 yards in the SEC Championship, and 237 total yards in the NC, with 7 TD's in those games.

Here's to hoping for just as strong as a finish for Kerryon

One of my biggest regrets for a player is that Ben Tate wasn't a year younger and part of that 2010 team. I think that offense would have been even better with him in the backfield. I think he deserves a lot of the credit for the good that the 2009 team accomplished.
