To come home and read this is surreal

That intersection of Samford and Shug Jordan is as barren as an intersection can be. Just don’t understand how a rear end collision can end like this. Absolutely tragic.

Some people are suggesting texting may have played a part, but I don't want to jump to any conclusions because when I was 16 I drove a POS 4runner and one time I was coming down a hill and my engine just shut off all of a sudden, my steering wheel and brakes both locked up, and I eventually coasted to a stop at the bottom of the hill without anything happening, but I went through multiple lanes before I stopped. If there had been anybody coming from the other direction or sitting at the light at the bottom of the hill I would have slammed right into them and there would have nothing I could've done. I got lucky as hell.

This really hurts. I've never been so upset before over the death of somebody I didn't personally know, I feel like I've lost a friend.

It’s going to be ultra-depressing hearing the regionals without Rod. Surreal even. Wtf

a 2017 full size SUV that kills both passengers when hit from the rear but the 11' jeep survives a front end collision. frick Toyota.

Just looked at safety ratings and apparently they only test front, side, and rollover on SUVs. Brilliant.

This is just horrible.

I have cried and prayed multiple times reading about this story.

Most sad for his kids and the loss of both parents at once.

It didn’t hit me right away. I thought well that fricking sucks. To happen that way, just isn’t fair. I thought about their family and having to deal with the sudden and unexpected loss of both parents? Jesus. I hope those kids will be alright.

But it hit me later, when I went back and listened those amazing calls. And all the memories of those games, where I was, who I was with and the emotions shared. Nobody called games like Rod, not for me at least.

I feel for them as we all do.

It will be tough. So random, but likely so needless and reckless.

The kid driving will have to live with this the rest of his life.

This happens daily in America.
