I don't see him leaving Oregon for Auburn. He has it much easier there. We will do what we always do.......go after a big name. End up hiring an unproven guy who we hope is the answer. Look at our history of coaching hires.

What would be a reason for him to come here? Not like we are going to outpay Nike money. He has an easier route to championships there as well.

Cristobal's 5-year contract at Oregon pays him less than what Gus makes in two seasons here. He's at like $2.7 million this season.
Everyone thinks "Nike money", but Oregon does NOT pay their Head Coaches that much money. Willie Taggart's contract was $16 million/5 years. Chip Kelley's extension in 2010 was 6 years $20.5 million, which still made him less paid than Lane Kiffin at USC at the time. When Kelly bolted for the NFL, Oregon made no power play to keep him in Oregon.
There is an underlying rumor that Cristobal is very interested in the Auburn job. The guy is from the South and wants to compete with and recruit the best talent. Oregon will always be Oregon no matter what; he's literally in the complete opposite corner of the country.

Fair enough. I'd be stoked for sure if he was willing to come, it would be a great hire, particularly from a recruiting standpoint. He'd definitely be the first person I'd make say no to the job.
