What reasoning makes you think he is?

He has been the best by far. Its not even debatable.

In terms of production, certainly.

But he's had some holes in his game throughout his career. He's the best of an otherwise largely unproven lot.

We'll definitely miss him early on, particularly in game 2 vs UNC.

He is by far not perfect. But I think he has shown the best vision and the best ability to get first downs when we need him. And lets be honest, he is a beast in the goal line wildcat which is a staple Gus play that will always be here...

DJ showed some promise but seems to lack vision. He does hold on to the ball well so thats a plus

The biggest issue we are going to face is, we will be looking for a running back to be "the guy" when we did not think that was the case. Its very different being the guy that gets 19 carries a game than it is being the guy who is counted on.

I know everyone always has the "I want so and so to get more carries. He will burn it up" But in the past we have found that is difficult to do

This thread is all over the place regarding Boobie.

First, If true, I will just miss that name. No other like it in our history of nicknames at Auburn. :)

But in reality, he WAS our best back. Just remember how he ran in the alabama game. No other back was doing anything consistently.

And replacing him? Regardless of the fact that he sometimes fumbled too much, we have NO CLUE who will carry the rock, and be our GOTO back.
DJ? a glimpse in the LSU game. But that was it...
Shivers? Not your 3 down back, and cannot be our blocking back on passes.
MAR? How can anyone on here count him? It's all speculation. ANd who knows if he is injury prone or not?
Tank? Got the HS creds, but putting him as #1 is tough as Gus requires a lot out of his RB, and Tank has to prove he can be that guy.

And last...The reason Boobie is possibly leaving.

Too many reasons thrown out, so which one is the REAL reason? Any insiders?

Boobee went flat

Going elsewhere to get an uplift

I wonder who mishandled Boobee, or was it sagging Boobee syndrome that did him in?

Considering his tendency to fumble I’m not overly concerned if he goes...

I’m ok with it as well. He seemed like a Peyton Barber type back. He was good for 3-5 yards at a whack, but was not a home run threat. Hopefully DJ, MAR, or Tank could be the one play drive back that we’ve been missing.

He was our most proven back and was the best RB on the team the past 2 years.. That said I feel like we saw most of his potential. The others RBs are less experienced, but I feel like they have higher ceilings too. Ultimately Whitlow has no one but himself to blame.. its not a secret Gus loved the guy and probably gave him all kinds of chances. I don't think anything is final yet though, so maybe Gus is giving him one last chance to get it together.

Gus gave Boobee plenty of chances. He usually does for all of the departures. When Boobee’s own OL has to tell him to give effort in fall camp the prior season and he still doesn’t, it’s time to cut bait. I know it was freaking hot then, but Truesdell weighed 300 in that same heat and shined..under CRG workouts.

And he received many hall passes for his fumbling issues.
