I'm not saying you're wrong, but Tulane lost a lot of defensive players to graduation, bigger schools, and the NFL Draft. Some were difference makers

I like the hire compared to the norm, but he would not be in the first 3 or 4 phone calls. Everyone's rebuttal for the extra losses is its because he lost his QB or some other player. Just seems like he cant replace talent, even with the boost new coaches typically have. He had just as many days of the portal being open as everyone else.

I just don’t think Brohm is overly impressive

You say this

I hope Durk has the team playing well these last 3 games. I’d like to see him earn the job.

But then you say this?
Durkin was a failure at his last HC gig, but you’re not impressed with a coach that has beaten multiple top 10 teams and is on the cusp of the playoffs at a place that’s hard to win at?

To each his own I guess. I’m pulling for Durkin but I’ll get on board with Brohm if it happens. He just doesn’t excite me, thats alI. I’ll have to check into his experience if he looks like he’s going to be the guy. I certainly don’t know who has the best chance to be successful…and you don’t either. Let the chips fall and yell “War Eagle” is my plan.

Fit means everything. Without it you can’t get the money required to compete.

I will support any coach hired. I was all Sumrall but I’m leaning Durkin for now as far as for my choice. I just think the upside for Durkin it off the charts.

Smartest thing he ever did was when he first got hired, he went on a barnstorming tour of every little REC enclave across the state and organized them like the mafia. Won them over, told if they want to win what to do, and got the whole thing running like a well oiled machine.

That is what any new Auburn coach should do upon getting hired. Not just get the PTB all together and undivided, get all Auburn supporters united behind the cause and working to all pull in the same direction.

I am not downing Durkin but for the most part you're making a mountain of a molehill over fit when fit is determined by wins.

Do you have any clips that show Brohm to not be a fit. I am talking cringe. I already showed a video from Brohm's xfl days. He is a man's man. Are there any whiny Brian Kelly/ Shane Beamer videos out tbere? Those guys would not fit the boosters, much less tbe fanbase, but if they won I doubt the boosters would care and the fans will always jump on board the bus.

Kiffin isnt even our fit and we would take him all day long.

Freeze did not fit Auburn despite his preaching. I dont care if the boosters liked him he did not fit Auburn. If anything our last fit was Gene Chizik. Gus had to be baby sit by the boosters despite being a good guy.

I don’t want Kiffin. He hasn’t won anything and has been a complete disaster in 3 of his 5 jobs

I don't see any of the candidates being more than 8-9 win guys IMO.

Brohm, Dilly, Lashlee Summral, I don't see them striking fear into UGA, Bama, Kiffin etc...

Regardless, we made a substantial offer to get Kiffin last cycle.

He wasn't a QB guru & it was apparent before we hired him.

His agent reached out to Auburn and PSU

Just curious, what's the source for this? Not saying it didn't happen but rumors are as numerous as flies on a cow patty when there's a coaching vacancy.

If his agent did reach out, wouldn't they want to somewhat keep it on the down low to avoid upsetting his current school in case things don't work out? Or reach out and make it semi-public to entice a raise?

I am not set on one person as Auburn never calls and asks for my opinion anyway. I do want a football coach. One that isnt into gimmick phrases or weird like Freeze. We need a guy that likes to grind on the recruiting trail and loves to prep. Football is still about who has better players and who preps the most. If you are making millions of dollars, you better be at work and not golfing or at your kids games. You can coach middle school football if you want free time.

Brohm just doesn’t get me jazzed. Don’t seem to fit AU

I’d certainly get behind him if he was hired, but a week or two ago, I barely knew who Brohm was. I have to admit, of everyone who has been mentioned, he’s next to last on my wish list (only above Jimbo, who might spark a riot if he’s hired). Also, I’ve had my fill of offense gurus.

Maybe I am missing something. I don’t see why we should be considering this guy.

Everyone who has become a usual suspect over the last week. Sumrall, Dillingham, Durkin. I’m open to Franklin. Key (who I don’t expect to leave GT) and the guy at USF would be interesting. And Drink and Lashlee (in spite of my offensive guru comment.) None are sure fire home run hires, but all have a big upside. Not sure what all the gushing over Brohm is about.

I’d certainly support him, if he is the guy. But tell me what I’m missing? I’d love to be sold, especially if he turns out to be the one.

Brohm is 5-5 against the top 5 teams in tbe country.

Does the rest of the group even have a top 5 win combined?
