I think the key here is the University was actually going to litigate. Given all the resources and free hand he was given, it would be tough for him to prove he put a decent product on the field, at least one worthy of a buyout for being asked to leave.
And if he ever wanted to coach again that would be pretty much out the window at any decent level.

I was thinking more along the lines of he was drinking on the job

1st of all it’s not true, 2nd it would hurt us with future coaches, ands finally his lawyer would have his contract pretty much tight.
It would be a huge embarrassment to the University to go through such a suit

Nah he was ready to quit. And he may have accepted a reduce buy out

I listened to his whole post game presser last night. You could tell he had no clue on how to address the offense. Said he has never been in this situation.

That has been the holdup the past 3 weeks.

Per Justin Hokanson of on3, Hugh’s golf was worse than earlier reported. He played golf in Waco before the Baylor game. He played golf Wednesday and Thursday before the A&M game. Apparently the administration made him stop playing all together Also Ron Roberts called a blitz on 4th and 31 and Freeze overruled him, so we rushed 3, and we all know what happened next

Where’s our reporter hiding in the bushes waiting for him to drive away? I want to see him drive his beavermobile out of my damn town.

The situation where you have carte blanche, a stacked roster and access to all that a founding institution and Big Six SEC program can give?
This guy can't frick himself hard or fast enough.

In reality…Hugh actually “quit” more than a few weeks ago.
More accurately…he was just ready to be “separated from employment involuntarily” along with collecting all the MILLION$ that he was due associated with his severance buyout agreement.
Whatever he may have negotiated and settled for in a reduced buyout is still more that that Whore deserves

If there's a shred of truth to any of that, fire him for dereliction of duty. Holy shite.
I've got a couple friends that are truly addicted to golf and its all they ever talk about and think about. Sounds like he is worse than them.

I laughed out loud when he said something along the lines of asking for patience, but that's not what people want these days.
Guy, its your 3rd year. You built the roster up after being given millions to bring in your hand picked players. The program is in reverse and you're the one that said wait til year 3 in your introductory presser. You told the world at SEC media days that Auburn would be in the playoff hunt. And you're talking about "patience"??? Go frick yourself, Freeze. This isnt the fault of the people without patience. Its on you.
Man, that really pissed me off when he said that last night.

The golf thing can be believable. Most of this just shows Hoke is dirty af.
Tell us about 4th and 31 then.

Well that would officially be the last time I watched an Auburn football game.

Why? Not sure what some of you expect
Posted on 11/2/25 at 5:56 pm to Mlove90
Hugh has absolutely lost his mind. Not sure if it’s golf or just getting older or being sick or what but he came in here with a golden ticket and essentially lit it on fire. He appears unhealthy, unmotivated, and unwilling to do what it takes to be a ball coach.
