Finebaum calls out Goodman, defends Harsin.

Joe Goodman is a piece of shite. Good for Finebaum. And you Harsin haters need to read this too. The guy is someone to get behind and cheer for.

“I think Bryan Harsin has been a true profile in courage of what you should be as a head football coach,” Finebaum said. “Yes, ultimately he has to win, we know that. But you’re right, and Greg, I’m going to take it a step further. You mentioned AL.com, I’m going to mention the writer’s name, his name is Joseph Goodman, and he carried on a vicious, unsubstantiated campaign against Bryan Harsin over the COVID shot. I am not here to make medical decisions, or political decisions, that’s not what I do. But that was his choice, and you could choose to respect it or not. But it doesn’t cause for a one-man campaign to try to get the guy fired.”

Finebaum said he likes Harsin, that he’s a thoughtful coach and can understand why Athletics Director Allen Greene bucked the system to try to hire Harsin.

“But ultimately, that’s not what he’ll be judged by,” Finebaum said. “But in terms of winning people over that were on the fence with Bryan Harsin, I think he has done that, and I think he deserves tremendous praise for taking a road less traveled in taking on those who tried to fire him, and taking on those who creeped in the middle of the night like cockroaches trying to get a man fired with no justification and not one scintilla of evidence.”

Was Finebaum drunk when he passed over a chance to attack Auburn and Harsin?

I’ve said it before but even 85%er Bama fans are rallying behind Harsin.

AL.com was the first place I started commenting in a forum, and I see it is still as bad as when I began my adventure into forums.

I totally agree with Finebaum on this concerning Goodman. Joe Goodman is a world class piece of shite.

Honest question —

Do “Harsin haters” dislike the man himself or just don’t think he can win games here?

I like Harsin personally but I’m on the fence about the latter portion.

I like Harsin and think he's about as close as you can get to an old school football coach these days, and I say that endearlingly.

Unfortunately, the game/system has changed dramatically and due to that and a number of factors, I do not think he will be successful at all at Auburn.

Exactly

Harsin as a person is great. Malzahn was great as a person in his own way. Can’t just make excuses for performance though. The losing Bo excuse is out the window if we trot out TF as QB1 again and that could happen.

Successful is a different critter for different people. I'm happy that the team seems bought in. I'm happy to not have a bunch of last minute we-gotta-have 3 stars. So I'm happy that recruiting will depend on wins or losses. And I attribute that to the single minded voice of having just one HC. I'm still hopeful that he stuns not just the football world but the good people on the Planes.

As for PF I don't put it past him to go for higher ground to later swing from. To look for a place to say. "I was once fooled".

I don’t think Harsin has what it takes to win games. Not 100% his fault now, after the attempted coup, but even before that I didn’t have a ton of confidence (because of recruiting)

I agree because you can get undivided attention from people on planes, they don't have anywhere to go beyond their seat and the bathroom.

Pretty much where I'm at as well. He'd have been an awesome hire back in 2017. I don't know if his style will work the way CFB has changed so dramatically in the past 15 months or so.

Goodman is just filling the roll of being a shitty pot-stirrer that Finebaum created 20 odd years ago in the Alabama paper business.

First, Goodman is a POS, so we agree there.

Finebaum is propaganda in the sports media world. He has a reason for saying everything he says. Him supporting an Auburn coach should make you pause. Does he say things nice about Auburn coaches, sure, but there is always some kind of backhanded crap with it.

As far as Harsin as a person, I am indifferent. Don't hate him, but wouldn't say I like him. I guess he is ok as a person, I don't really know him.

The sports media in Alabama is, with one or two exceptions, a low-rent soap opera. Both Finebaum and Goodman are playing their roles, and both suck.
